The Field is in Table Songs and must be there.
Not changing it to 42 could be the reason why the songs are grayed out on your second PC because MM searches for the Media that is listed in that field and can't find it so no song is accessible (grayed out)

No, I have not changed the Field IDMedia to 42, partly because I couldn't find it. Is that just the field in MS Access that says ID? It seems to be working right now, what would changing it to 42 to do for me?

I really appreciate your help on this issue.

I have been able to play a song on both computers and they both use the same DB. This is great and what I wanted however I still have a problem.

In order to play a song on my new computer, I had to go into the DB with MS Access on my old computer and change the file name from

[HP_PAVILION]\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music\My Yahoo! Music\Artist\Album
To
\\Mediaroom\My Yahoo! Music\Artist\Album (mediaroom is the name of my main computer)

This make the file work on both computers. However, I don't really feel like editing all of my tracks and I don't expect you to either (although I appreciate the offer) My main question is, is there a quick and easy way to go about changing all of that. Again thanks for the help.


Edit: Fixed the problem. Just in case anyone else that searches ends up in this thread this is what I did:

I went into Microsoft Access into the MM database and clicked edit---replace. I then typed into the find what box \[HP_PAVILION]\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music
and typed in the replace with box \\Mediaroom. [i](Obviously, you won't use these exact settings. You will have to customize them with your computer settings.[/i]
This took about 4 seconds and all of my tracks are now on both computers using the same DB.
Once again, I really appreciate you pointing me into the right direction onkel_enno. You know what's weird though, on my new computer, all of the tracks are still grayed out lol. I'll take gray text to be able to get this to work haha.

That's a problem.
You could try to update the location in the Database with "Locate Moved/Missing Tracks" but that doesn't really work. BTW Make a copy if My Files\My Music\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.mdb (if you use MM2).

If you have Microsoft Access or any other application that can read the database, you could open Table Songs, Update Field IDMedia to 42 and Update the Field SongPath to "\\MusicComputer\Music\..." instead of ":\...".
But again make a copy of you DB first :wink:
If you don't get it and you Library isn't too big, you could send it to me via eMail with the info of the name of the MusicComputer and the sharename and I will do it for you - If you want :)

Anyway I understand what you are saying, I have to go through my network when adding files rather than adding from my drive. And to answer your question, I have 2 computers but only one library. To get my library on my new computer, I used this FAQ

and added the dbname to my new computer. Now in MM on my new comp, I see my entire library, however everything is grayed out.

When I do add to my library through the network, it adds the song to my library but it is a separate file. For instance, Track 1 is shown grayed out with 20 plays, and Track 1 is also show able to play with no Plays. If possible, I would like to play Track 1 with 20 plays on both computer.

Sou you are using One Library for both computers or have you made a copy of your primary library and moved it to the other computer?
You'll have to use UNC Paths if you scan for Music Files. So don't map a drive letter and use that, use "\\MusicComputer\Music" instead, where MusicComputer is the name of the Machine your Music is on and Music is the share name. Do you know what I mean?

So I've read the FAQ's about networking libraries but I am having a problem and the FAQ just doesn't explain it well enough for me. First off, I have two computer, one has all of my music on it, the other has none. On the computer that has none, I can play all of the music off of my other machine.

Currently, in MediaMonkey, I was able to get my database from the computer with music, to the computer without. However they are all greyed out. I know that this is because of the .ini file however I don't understand the FAQ in how to make it so both users have access to it. If someone could help me figure out how to make it so the .ini file could be shared it would be much appreciated. Thank you.
