Sorry, my bad. Thanks for explaining the issue.
I can confirm this behaviour as well.

Some weird selectors have entered the building in 2.5 (c;

charlie, it is not the same problem and it is not fixed in 975, though it is closely related.
it all began with
1422 Fixed Deselection using Shift or CTRL doesn't work correctly
in the first beta.
this solved a problem, but also introduced some new problems.
3 of the newly created problems got fixed in beta 2, rc-1 and rc-2 but there is still one problem - the one that wolfzell explained - remaining.

it's fairly easy to reproduce. just open any node that doesn't contain many items (for example an album).
the bottom part of the tracklist is now empty, because there are no more tracks. if you now use your mouse to make a rubberband selection and start in the "empty" part of the tracklist, the first item in the list gets selected too, even if it's not under the rubberband.

this is because after opening a node the first item will be highlighted (dotted frame) and drawing a rubberband selection also selects the item that is currently highlighted.

so, this bug is still in rc-2

See http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11237 titled 'Odd track list behavior' for the same problem

Problem seems to be solved in 2.5.4.975

Selection problems in 2.5.4 RC-1

I alread posted this in another thread, but I don't know if the problem is gone in RC-2:

Try and do this:

Display the songs of an album.

Select the first song, using the mouse.

Now click into the song window *below* the songs: The selected first song gets unselected, but the dotted frame (cursor) is stil above the title of the first song.

Now with the mouse start drawing up a selection window from the bottom below the last songs, selecting the last 2 or 3 songs of the album. Of course they get selected.

But strangely enough, at that moment the song where the dotted cursor stands (here the first one) *also* gets selected.

So if you press delete, because you wanted to delete the last 2 songs you just selected, the first song gets deleted too by accident.

I hope I was explicit enough.

For further questions, just ask and I will try to help, but I will only be back at the machine where MediaMonkey is running on thursday or friday.

bye
Wolfgang
