Re: Now Playing behaviour

I can replicate the problem you describe, however, I'm not convinced that it's a problem. If memory serves, in earlier versions of MM, the Now Playing node always behaved as the Now Playing window does today (i.e. the double-click action was ignored and whenever the user clicked a track MM would just switch and play the selected portion of the Now Playing list). However, some users wanted more control and were confused by the change in double-click behaviour from one node to another. So then we made the Now Playing node behave consistently with other nodes and that's why MM behaves the way it does today.

Rusty the problem with your solution is that Now Playing NODE behaves as a regualer node, but when you right click you only get PLAY NOW and no option for play next, play last.

If your going to mimic the behavior a regular node, then the context menu should be the same IMO.

In any case, I think there should be a FOURTH option for the now playing window and node...

The forth being 'switch to this track now' (without changing any track's position within the playlist), which is the current behavior of the now playing WINDOW.

Regardless, IMO double clicking should be consistent across all application windows/nodes.

Mine serves the same. I don't know which behaviour is more logical, but I remember that the previous behaviour was changed because too many people found it unlogical. And now the new behaviour is unlogical :-?.

It isn't that hard to learn new or maybe.unlogical.for.some things. Monkeys can do it, and we're an improved race of them (well, most of us are :wink:)

Miki,

I can't replicate the problem you describe. Any more info would be appreciated.

Lowlander you are right, it should work as normal Now Playing Window and not as regular Node. I assume that behavior too.

It's not necessarily a bug. In this case the Now Playing node behaves as all other nodes in the tracklisting instead of the way the Now Playing window works. I would expect it to work the same as the Now Playing window as well though.

If you are in the 'Now playing' *window*, then it works correctly.

If you are in the 'Now playing' *NODE VIEW* and double click a track, it enqueues it to the bottom of the playlist.

My settings are:
stopped = play now
playing = play last
play now = clear tracks +play selected + subseq
numeric keypad activator = none
show warning = off

This bug has been around a long time, I always forget about it because a rarely double click a track in the now playing list.

It's also present in rc 3.

check your mouse drivers for any updates.

you might also be using a mouse who's clicker is worn too much see if you can adjust the sensetivity of the double click action on your mouse control panel.

I probably don't understand well what you mean, if I have the settings you described, it works well.

Double Click action

When playback is stopped - play now
When playback is playing - play now
Play now action - Clear tracks & play selected only

If i have a few songs in now playing and its playing #1 then i click #3 all it does is queues #3 after #1.

Shouldnt it 'play now'.

What am i missing here?

Using 2.5.5 RC-1.
