OK, I know I'm talking to myself but Jiri just pointed out what my problem was.

Prior to my FLACs in the sync list were some MPC files. These were causing the subsequent FLACs to fail. For the time being, I have removed the MPCs from my sync list and I now have my FLACs on my iPod

It just remains to understand why the MPCs are causing this problem.

After scouring the forum, I thought I had the corrupt FLAC problem. I have converted flac->flac in MM and when I copy the files individually or even a whole album, they are converted to MP3 and copy over nicely.

The problems start when I try to auto-synchronise. MM hits a problem (which I haven't nailed yet) and and abandons the sync. After that, even the manual copy will not work. I get this exception in the log. I have also included a DRM debug statement that occurs later in the trace after the initial exception. I wasn't aware that FLAC format supported DRM.

After restarting MM, the maual copy works again.

I didn't read the sticky post about how to obtain the debug output.

Now that I have a proper log file. I can see that the FLAC decoder is failing and the MM status line was just showing that last converted file and not the files being converted.

Do I need a new FLAC plugin? I am using the one supplied with MM Gold.

I have been having various problems with this, too. MM stalls while converting certain files. I have reinstalled MM a couple of times and this seems to change the filetype that has the problem. I have multiple formats (FLAC, MPC) that need converting to MP3 for the iPod. My current problem is MPC. After failing to convert, MM abandons the rest of the synchronisation.

The MPC file can be converted from the 'Tools/Convert audio format' but not during synch. Here is the MMEcept.log debug MM which contains the following exception printed 798 times for the one file! I can't say it isn't trying!

Thanks! I found a new M4A plugin and the files that weren't converting before are now zipping through like a dream. I haven't finished syncing all 500 songs yet, but if things continue going the way they are now, everything should be fine.

Since m4a is not natively supported by MM, I will simply suggest you look for a different m4a plugin, or see if there is some way to 'clean' the metadata of the problematic files (not with MM).

Alternatively, you could try the MM 3 alpha which has native m4a support (BACKUP YOUR "My Music\Mediamonkey" folder and make sure you install to a separate folder ie "\program files\mediamonkey3\").

MM 3 alpha is posted in the beta forum, you might also want to read the various threads about before/during/after installation.

It's me again; I thought I should mention that there are other M4A tracks in my library that auto-convert and sync just fine, if that helps. It's just certain tracks that freeze the conversion and generate the aforementioned error message. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since I've been wrestling with this problem for almost a month.

There are several .m4a tracks in my library that won't auto-convert when I try and synchronize my Zen Vision M. This wouldn't be such a terrible problem if it weren't for the fact that every time Media Monkey reaches one of these files, synchronization freezes and skips all other files in the sync list.

I have about 300 some-odd songs that haven't synced since I switched to MM because of this, and if it weren't for this problem I'd love this program five times more. I ran a debug log and MM generated this error when it reached the first of the un-convertable files:
