argh, can't seem to get it right

by iccohen » Fri Jun 22, 2007 5:19 pm

I did the steps suggested below by Peke & Shicaca, but it's still not working.

However, here is what I noticed, and what I know:

1. I am not using the MM Library - should I? Could it be something so simple? I am just accessing my music folder on the C:\ and also the Zen through MM, and applying changes.

2. To apply changes, I manually sync the files I want to sync. Although it appears MM is writing to the device, the changes are not taking.

3. When I tried to auto sync my folder containing the songs and the Zen, I keep getting a message that there is not enough space, and would I like to delete songs so it could sync. I of course say "No" everytime.

I want to use MM, because I truly believe it's a much better product than the garbage Creative provided. But I can't seem to get it to work.

Thanks for da help in advance...

1. "Tools->Options->Confirmations->Confirm desired option on addition of Album Art" needs to be checked
2. Select Some tracks
3. Drag&Drop Album art to Album Art Window in MM select Save to Tag
4. Sync and report back the results (athru I think it will be OK now)

album art aspect

Shicaca-

You're right about the album art. I noticed it when trying to work w/ the Zen software on its own.

I started using a program called Album Art Downloader, which was limited but did "imbed" the art.

I then switched to mp3tag, which was more powerful, but couldn't find Zen, only the files on my hard drive.

As far as using MM to directly paste the artwork into the file (rather than the folder), where is that option?

Thanks,

I know the solution to one of your problems with the Zen (or maybe multiple).

For some reason the Zen doesn't talk very quickly to and fro from the computer and back. This is probably why it scrolls through your list so fast. If the HD in your Zen spins down, MM thinks the song(s) no longer exist where they once were, and therefor it continues to the next song. Somehow initiate your Zen, and before letting it spin down, try playing a song again and see what happens.

Also as for the album art not showing on your Zen when it should, try using the option to paste the album art directly to the file instead of putting it in the folder. I've noticed the same thing, myself. After I did this, I had no problem.

The one thing *I've* noticed that's really freaking annoying is that some songs don't show up after syncing from the computer to the Zen at all. I click on a artist name and there's nothing in there at all! Usually you see a track list, or if there's albums you'll see that, but I sometimes see nada. I think this is also a problem with the Zen because I've used three programs and they all do the same thing (WMP, MM, and the sh*t player that came w/ the software.

This being said, I don't believe some of your problems are MM's fault. I think it's Creative's IMHO.

Zen Vision:M and MM aren't playing nice

One thing I love about MM is that it can "see" my Zen Vision:M, and would love to use it instead of the garbage Creative sent w/ the unit.

However, I've noticed a couple of things that just aren't right (and searching questions in the Forums finds nothing quite matching my situation):

1. When I select my Zen in MM, the songs in my Zen eventually appear. As I peruse through through the songs, I notice that none of the album art assigned to songs (before using MM) appears in MM, unless I dragged into MM from Amazon, etc. However, when I look at the songs when playing the Zen, none of the art added in MM appears.

2. In addition, any edits I make to the songlist (delete, change info, etc.) appear to "take" in MM, but do not, after looking at the artist, album, genre, etc. when playing my Zen.

3. When I choose a song to play in MM from Zen, rather than playing it, it scrolls through all the songs (4500+) for no apparent reason. And yes, I did ensure that I wanted to play just that one song.

What can I do so that changes (edits and album art) I make in MM will carry across to the Zen, how do I get non-MM album art to appear in MM, and why does MM scroll through all the songs when I only want to play one?

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the numerous questions,

-Steve C
