Even for Non-Unicode?
Do you have 'Japan(Japanese)' support added in IE and made default.

Sorry, if this sounds silly but I try recreate your setup on my computer and see what is going on.

There is a topic in ' What's new 'list of RC-2.
3944 Fixed some Japanese Podcasts don't update

But......it doesn't seem that something changed.
I've subscribed 20 podcasts , but only 2 podcasts are downloadable.
This is the same result as RC-1.
All of them are downloadable by ' Juice ' and ' Alligator '.

My PC's Regional and Language settings are 'Japan(Japanese)', of course.

Maybe I'm wrong but as MM uses integrated IE API is it possible that Jap is not available for external Applications?

Can you please check Regional and Language settings under Advanced Tab as I know that I needed to enable all Cyrillic support to have it right not just in MM but in other apps like The Bat Mail client?

It is the same also in my PC.
I thought that the file name of the episode (Japanese is included) was a cause first. However, it seems not to be so.
I do not understand what the cause at all.
All DownLoad can be normally done by using "Alligator".

Other some trouble of the handling of Japanese has been succeeded from 2.5 as it is.

・When Japanese is used for tag, it is not possible to get information from amazon.co.jp.
・When getting tag information from CDDB, some characters of Japanese strings are replaced with incorrect characters.
・The file volume might not be able to be analyzed including Japanese in file pass.

It is known that these problems happen because of a general setting of Japanese Windows it in Japan.

I think that it is very good software for the person who listens only to English songs.

WinXP SP2(Japanese) + MediaMonkey3.0.0.1098

Japanese podcasts are not able to updated.
Is this trouble concerning Japanese processing?

No problem in using Juice podcast receiver.
Some Japanese podcasts are enumerated as examples.
