Again, another reason why multi-field support for multiple values would be beneficial. An artist like à;GRUMH... would get its own field and thereby be treated as it should. Separating should be done in the background, not at the user level.

I agree. ID3 tags are plain text. Applying special meaning to particular characters is bound to cause problems for users especially when it silently modifies tag data. I ~do~ think there are users that will benefit from this feature but, it's safer to have it configurable with the default off.

Excellent example Teknojnky.

yea its really annoying for artists such as à;GRUMH... which have semi-colon as part of the name.

Not ony does it show up as 2 separate artists, it adds the space making it

à; GRUMH... instead of à;GRUMH...

btw, this is not really a new behaviour, its been there since mm3 out and multi-item fields were supported.

... when a tag is edited EVEN IF the tag edited was not the one containing the messed-up ';'.

E.g. If I edit the title of a track with Artist = XXX;YYY, MM rewrites the Artist tag on disc to XXX; YYY i.e. adds a space.

It is really poor for MM to corrupt my standard use of ';' just because of its non-standard use of ';' as a value separator. Please, please, please fix this ASAP!
