Yes, you can sort your media library by 'Date Added'. I will "map" it out for you (although years late *lol*) and for everyone else.

Go to Tools>Options>Library>Filters & Views>select Available Tracks>select Configure>select Options tab>tick (or check) the box that reads Customize Track Browser>select Column 1>Scroll all the way to the bottom and select (Date) Added and click OK

You will now see Added in your music library and at the top left you will see Library (Available Tracks) right under Now Playing. You're all set!

NOTE: I am using MediaMonkey version 3.2.0.1294 (Gold version)

If you just want to see recently added tracks, you can enable create playlists for recently added tracks in the options...

or you can make an auto-playlist (requires gold):

added < 5 days ago (or however many days/hours)
sort by album, track, whatever else

It is possible, the problem is that your dates also include times. Sub sorting only works when the values of the first column are all exactly the same. Under date added your tracks were very likely added at different times, so the other sort criteria is ignored.

Been thinking about the UI for this.

A better solution might be to add a "Sort by..." option to the columns context menu.

The "Sort by..." option should provide a list of previously used sort options, e.g. "Album(A)+Track(A)" where (A) indicates ascending versus descending (D) sort.

The first (or last) option in the "Sort by..." menu should be "New sort order" which would lead to a sort order dialog. The dialog would provide, e.g. 4, drop down boxes populated with the columns available for sorting. Would also need a selector for each box to specify A/D sort order.

The options available could also include pre-configured functions applied to columns to e.g. return Date instead of Date+Time.

control lets you manually sort by however many columns you want.

the sort priority is the whatever order you click the columns.

Hmmm. I just did a search which resulted in lots of tracks and albums.

Set order track ascending
Set order album ascending

Note, I did this without holding Ctrl between the clicks on the column headers.

Worked just fine. MM3 maintained initial order (by track#) when sorting by album.

So, now I am really confused. What is holding Ctrl supposed to do?

So would click on track #, Ctrl, Date Added, be what he is looking for?
Probably not, if any other albums are in the node you will get results like:

1
1
1
2
2
3
3
3
etc..

The added column contains information down to the last second, not just the day, so since the songs were all added at different time (even if that be only a few seconds) MM will recognize that and sort by the added column first.

Nice tip

Click on date added header, hold Ctrl, click on track number header.

Is is possible to sort by date added & track # ?

by simonw » Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:16 pm

Hi

I like to view my library by date added, to see albums as I've added them to my collection. However in this view the tracks are listed in reverse order, as the last track on an album to be ripped will have the latest time.

Is it possible to order by date added but to sub-sort each album by track # in ascending order?

Thanks
Simon
