I've got 250 WAV files from my old vinyl collection, most of which are still unsplit 500MB files. I used WaveRepair to fix up some of the WAVs and it does a reasonable job of splitting tracks, but it's really a WAV editing tool, so I have to write the split WAVs and then convert them to MP3.
What I'd really like is something that can split the WAV and write directly to MP3 and a really neat bit of magic would be if that could then cleverly find out the ID3 tags and auto tag the file using the directory hierearchy of the WAV file location
I know splitting can be fiddly, especially with live albums where there's no track gap, but what have people used and what sort of experiences have people got with the various tools around?
Thanks
Antony
