But less evidently authentic.

With me, yeah, I guess you misunderstood me.

As for quoting people you can either use the quote button in each topic or just enclose quoted text in [ quot] [ /quot] (without the extra space), it's easier to read then following a link.

See again what I agreed with: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 39#p206639

It makes no sense for Current Selection to be available for Quick search but not Basic/Advanced.

Agreed.

Hey, you said you agreed with me, that's why I got confused.

I don't think that the selection applies to the Basic and Advanced Search, nor should they. The issue with that is that before you search you need to change the selection. If users require setting selection for Basic or Advanced Search it should be on the Search dialog. This also means that the selection needs to be detached from the search button as the it's currently visually presented as options for the search button and this is incorrect as they're options for the search box.

I see no evidence of that.

> and because it works like that you report a bug?

No, because I find it to work like that contrary to expectation, I report it as a bug.

That would certainly be a solution.

But I would guess e.g. from the fact that the basic searth and arrow buttons are linked controls (see the common hover effect) that the design intent is that their functions be linked too.

I'm confused. It's expected that the Basic search (and Advanced) don't adhere to the selection and because it works like that you report a bug?

I do agree that the down arrow for the selection should be moved to either side of the search box, and be presented in a way that it doesn't seem to belong to the basic search button.

Mine too, else I wouldn't have made this bug report.

It's my understanding it works like that.

It might be nice to add this selection option to both the basic and advanced search though.

Obviously not, since no user can be sure of that.

What I am sure of is that the arrow offering Current Selection it so close to the Basic Search button as to be touching it, so if one doesn't relate to the other, then certainly no user is likely to guess.

No, I meant, are you sure it isn't intentional that they don't adhere. I wouldn't expect them to.

No... else I would not be reporting the contrary.

Are you sure that the Basic and Advanced search adhere to the selection? I always thought only the quick search did.

1 In Tree click Title, K
2 Click Search toolbar down-arrow, Current Selection (meaning Current Tracks, not Current Selection)
3 Click Search toolbar spyglass
4 In Title enter L, click OK

Expected: Title K tracks containing L in title
Observed: (apparently) ALL tracks containing L in title
