To clarify: As MM has grown in popularity, it's become necessary to comply with MP3 licensing requirements which limit free distribution of encoding functionality to 30-days.
Existing users who upgrade to the new version don't have to worry. MM won't try to replace any existing version of the LAME encoder.
New users who want encoding beyond the 30 day period have 2 options:
1. Purchase a MediaMonkey Gold license.
2. If you don't want to buy Gold license for some reason (is there any good reason not to buy Gold??

), then there is another way: Download lame_enc.dll from some on-line source and replace the included version of lame (in the MM folder) with the new one.
