No, MediaMonkey only enters a link and the corresponding tag data in the database when you use Add/Rescan Tracks, Drag & Drop or the File Monitor. MediaMonkey leaves the files where they are when you add them to the Library. You can make copies or move songs if you desire to using tools like File > Auto-Organize Files on selected files.

Would I be right that if I go to
File ad rescan folders files to ad files to mediamonky media pool
it is making copies of the real files not Short Cuts to the file??

And if I ad file to mediamonky by Draging and Droping then to Mediamonky Media Pool it is also making Copies of the Files and not short cuts to the files?

In the left of your mediamonkey screen you have a panel called Tree panel. Inside it there is a node called "library". Just drop the files on top of that.

since I already added a Folder to mediamonky Media pool does this mean the Libray is beeing Monitered? So if I ever ad a filke to that folder it will automaticly ad it to the media pool?
Not by default. But it can be monitored if you use the "File monitor" function (gold feature) and point it to the location of your folder.
see:

Code: Select all

Automatically Updating the Library with the File Monitor
The above process can be automated using the File Monitor ( Tools > Options > Library > File Monitor ). If enabled, it monitors specified folders for any changes at startup or while MediaMonkey is running, and automatically updates the library accordingly. It behaves slightly differently than a manual scan as it:
•	Automatically removes any Tracks that have been deleted (configurable)
•	Automatically changes the location of any Tracks that have been moved (configurable)
Note: Although the File Monitor does monitor for moved files, it only searches the specified directories for the moved file, and consequently will not detect the location of the moved file if it has been moved to an unmonitored directory. For these situations, you can Retrieve Moved/Missing Tracks as described below.

To have MediaMonkey automatically add files to the Library you need to enable the Tools > Options > File Monitor and set it to the folder you wish this for: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/webhelp/f ... ibrary.htm

Yes, just select the file(s) in Windows Explorer and Drag & Drop them onto the Library node in MediaMonkey. The files will be added to the Library.

Sorry I don't know what you're asking. Normally users just use File > Add/Rescan Tracks to add files to the MediaMonkey library.

Hello.

I learned today that it's possible to add single files or selection of files to the Mediamonkey Library without having to rescan!

Simply drag the file(s) from windows explorer to the "library" node inside Mediamonkey's tree panel.

This is the closest you can get to add a single file to your library: http://mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=53218

Otherwise you will need to move these single files to a folder from which all tracks can be added or add all files and use Filters to filter tracks out.

That's because there are no subfolder inside the folder.
Like Lowlander said, you can't add an individual file.
You can only add folders.

No I click Ad Rescan and it opens a window and I look for the foder I want.

If I want to ad the whole folder I just put a check mark in the box next to the folder I want to ad.

But if you want to ad just one file in that folder I know you would think don't put a check mark in the box just click the = next to it.
So I do that but the folder dos not open it just gets rid of the + next to it

You can't select individual files in the Add/Rescan Tracks dialog.

Ad rescan and then it opens the tree

Re: playlist help

Are you in the Add/Rescan Track dialog or in the Explorer Tree?

I have mediamonky and I know how to ad a Folder to the Media Pool.
But how do I ad just one file to the media pool?

When I go down the media tree I can puit a check mar in the folder I want. But if I click the + to get it to open it just gets rid of the check box biut it never opens the folder for me to pick one file?
