Hi
I converted my MM3 Library with 40'000 plus audio files and tested MM4 build 1343. The general impression is very positive, but it apprars that there is still some work to be done.
I was tweaking around with filters quite a lot in MM3. It seems that my filters were converted because I find my old entries in "Collection opitions" behind the "sharing" button (some even in duplicate?). However, despite this
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7083 being solved, the entire filter functionality still seems to be broken:
1.) I can rename a collection, but restart of MM is required to see the effect in the tree;
2.) I can not permanently save a collection comment at all;
3.) I can use the filtering criteria of the existing collection (seems to filter out the right files), but I can not have more than one single colletcion, i.e. I can only change the existing one but not create or save a new one. I can also not access any one of my old filters.
Some general remarks in addition:
- I find even the extended search abilities of MM very limited. One should be able to use user defined search strings which should allow also brackes, e.g. ((A and B) or (C)). It should be possible to permanently save these search strings. Just check out the search function of Amarok (or foobar) to see what I mean. Any user defined search string should also be applicable as a filter.
- The tabs created by + are a great feature! I just find it somewhat strange that the tabs show up above the menue (file, edit view etc.), I haven't seen that any where else. I would rather put it below, like in e.g. mozilla firefox, to be consistent.
- When right-klicking on a song in MM, one should get a menu option "open in explorer", preferably with the respective file being preselected. This would be really useful! In order to "visit" my file with the windows explorer, I currently need to open the properties window, copy the folder path (but without the file name!) and paste it in "run" of the windows start menu. This is particularly difficult if you have lenthy network paths but only very small fileds for viewing the path string. I guess this would be rather simple to implement.
