I see this issue too.
MM seems to construct the UPNP folder tree based on all shared collections, not just the content that should appear in a particular collection. For example, I have a 1920s/1926 folder under my movies collection (when viewed from a UPNP client), even though I do not own a movie from 1926. I do, however, own a song from 1926 and that song appears to be causing the empty movies/1920s/1920 folder.
