Most of them use [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gracenote]Gracenote[/url] (formerly known as CDDB), WMP uses [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allmusic]Allmusic[/url].
I think these two are the biggest online music databases - but not free to use (espacially by commercial software). Contrary to freedb which is licenced as GPL.

They don't use FreeDB.

i can't get the easy copy to execute after installation. It just stalls on startup. Using windows 7 64 bit.

If neither can find it the CD isn't in FreeDB. Otherwise you'll need to check your network/proxy/freedb settings.

I'm not sure why when inserting a audio CD, there is no Title, Artist or Album Showing, only Track 1, Track 2, etc. When reading the CD with either WM or Real, the additional information shows up.
