Confirmed fix. I just installed B1447 over build 1445 in my W7 local and NAS portable installations and NP toggle works "as advertised".

Fixed in 1447.

That was it: the NP window had to be undocked and have focus. Reported at 8538.

I was bound and determined to find out why this was not working for my two installs but was working for others. So I started turning options on and off one-by-one to see if I could get it to work and this is what I found.

I'll clairify the issue: The Now Playing Dialog will not toggle off if it is NOT DOCKED (i.e. Floating) and if it has "focus". If it is docked it works like a champ. Maybe nohitter151 and/or Lowlander can confirm this to see if I solved the problem I was having since I had Now Playing undocked on both my systems when I first encountered the problem.

Thanks,

I can't reproduce, even with tracks highlighted in the NP window the shortcut still works to hide it.

Well, I couldn't wait until "tomorrow".

I sort have got this to work. If I press Ctrl+Alt+N it will open the Now Playing dialog. Pressing the combination again without doing anything else will not toggle it off. However, if I left click anywhere in the MM window outside of the Now Playing dialog window when it is open and then press Ctrl+Alt+N it will toggle the Now Playing dialog off. Another thing to try is to Ctrl+Alt+N to open the Now Playing dialog. Then left-click outside the NP dialog window and then left-click back inside the NP dialog window and in my case it will not toggle off. So it appears that the toggle-off only works on my systems when the NP window doesn't have "focus".

None of the other Ctrl+Alt (T, L, A, V) hotkeys exhibit that behavior. I can successively press the hotkey combinations and the dialogs will toggle on and off without any issue. Maybe somebody else can confirm this finding.

Thanks for the replies.

First I am using English and second I have not assigned any hot keys myself; currently using only the defaults.

Going to the View menu and selecting Now playing will first open the Now Playing window and then close when selecting it again, however the keyboard hotkey combination will only open it.

This fails for me when accessing a portable install of MM on a Synology NAS from both my main XP system and my W7 64-bit notebook. I also have a test/experimental LOCAL install on the W7 notebook and it fails there also.

Something strange going on here, but like I said it is a nit. I'll fool around some more with this tomorrow to see if I can figure out why the hotkey combination will open but not close the window. Will report back if I find something.

Works here too, did you perhaps assign a different function to Ctrl+Alt+N or are you using a foreign language (in that case see View menu for proper shortcut key.

Works fine to toggle on/off here.

In the WEB Help "Standard Keyboard Shorcuts" section it indicates that the Now Playing Dialog is "Toggable" with the key sequence:
View Now Playing dialog (toggle) <Ctrl><Alt><n>

When I try this keyboard sequence it will open the Now Playing Dialog, but will not toggle it off.
