Cofirmed that the problem is fixed in 1783. Thanks!

From the MediaMonkey for Windows Beta Testing forum. Stable releases are often announced in the "News and Other Stuff" forum but that one hasn't been yet.

The bug report says this problem was just fixed in 4.1.11.1780. Where can I download that version? I assume it's beta.

Is the bug report still open for the long URL problem? The comments are a little confusing. ("Works in MM5", "Updated").

I forwarded the token to support, but there has not been a response. How can I find out if this issue will be addressed?

I suggest contacting support as the token is needed to test why this fails.

Subscription Problems - Dave Ramsey

by neumannu47 » Thu Sep 04, 2014 7:50 am

Back in 2012, I posted about problems I was having subscribing to Dave Ramsey's podcast. My current subscription is on an XP computer with MM Version 3. I tried to move the subscription to my Gold version of MM4 at the office, but when I paste the subscription link (the same one that works at home), MM does not load the podcast. As before, the problem appears to be that the link with the subscription token is too long. Apparently I got it to work once before, but I cannot remember how, and I cannot get it to work. Are there any suggestions? The link looks like this, with the token changed:

http://www.mytotalmoneymakeover.com/ind ... 0000000000

The token is 96 characters, by my count. Again, it works fine in MM3, but I cannot get MM4 to work with it.

Alternatively, is there a way to create a button on the toolbar that send the highlighted episodes to a specified location, such as my Dropbox folder? That way, I can highlight the episodes I want on MM3, press the button, and the day's files will be sent to Dropbox. I assume a script can do that, but I've never done a script before.

I still cannot get MediaMonkey to download Dave Ramsey's podcasts. Apparently the URL with the paid token is too long. It works fine with version 3, but version 4 is a no go.

When Version 4 didn't work, I tried to roll back to version 3, but all I get is a splash screen (XP), and I have to end the task manually. The knowledge base note on MM not starting was no help, including starting the program unskinned. Has anyone found a solution?

UPDATE: I got Version 3 working. Maybe all of these steps are not necessary, but here is what I did:
  • Uninstalled Version 4 with Revo Uninstaller
  • Manually deleted the MediaMonkey folder in %appdata%
  • Restarted the computer in Safe Mode
  • Installed MediaMonkey 3 with the no skin option
  • Started MediaMonkey with the /NoSplash command line option
  • Closed MediaMonkey
  • Restarted the computer in Normal Mode
  • Subscribed to the Dave Ramsey Podcast without issue
For some reason, the database was not getting created. It is also possible that another program running in the background (Search Everything from VoidTools.com) was a problem. It has not presented a problem for any other software I'm using.

Hopefully this information will help someone else. Also hopefully the developers will solve the problem. My guess is that the URL is too long for Version 4.

The fix is difficult and so far only limited Podcasts/users are affected. However this is still being looked at.

So if I'm reading that thread correctly, there is no fix planned?

"There was a problem downloading the file(s)"

Code: Select all

http://www.mytotalmoneymakeover.com/index.cfm?event=get3HourPodcastFeed&podcastXXToken=<paid_token>.xml
(where paid_token is a character string of several bytes that they ask not to be shared publicly)

Since this same issue (with the same paid podcast) had come up before, I was curious if it ever got resolved.

Thanks,
Kyle
