I'm using an Iriver IFP995

no, his suggestion wouldn't work. It would give me nameless files and create a lot of directories instead of putting them all in 1.

nevermind, I figured it out. I guess mediamonkey requires you to specify the file naming format. What I wanted was all the files in a single directory, so I had to specify the directory and then the file naming.

\gym1\<Artist> - <Title>

that gave me all my files in the gym1 directory the way I wanted them.

I want to synchronize my files to a single directory. \gym1\ for example. For whatever reason media monkey is changing the filenames of files that are synchronized. For example Charlatans-OverRising.mp3 gets changed into 1.mp3 once its on my portable device.

\gym1\<artist>\<filename>

Synchronizing without file change

I want to synchronize my files to a single directory, not using tags to create directories. Also, I don't want media monkey to change the filename or tags in any way. When I set the synchronization options to / for the root directory or say /gym1/<artist>/ I end up with mp3's that have no filename.
