Re: MediaMonkey for Windows 8 Metro App

Jiri: Could you clarify which version of Windows 8 MM will run on. The Surface tablet can run Windows RT or Windows 8, they are not the same thing from a programming point of view. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Surface I would guess you are talking about Windows 8 (Pro), but the original th...

Re: Why does my library refresh/flash?

I can confirm this also happens on MM 3.2.3 to 3.2.5 on Windows 7 Even more annoyingly, if you edit some tags the refresh wipes out your edits. Dave P.S. Often a CD is found on FreeDB automatically (when I click on the CD node in the tree), the tags are then listed. After the refresh suddenly the CD...

Re: MM for Mac - I just switched to Apple

I disagree completely. There are a bunch of 3rd party applications that exist for Mac that go above and beyond what the system already comes with. Do you wonder why Mozilla makes Firefox as an alternative to Safari? Or even Google making Chrome? Not that it really matters, but Firefox (Mozilla) is ...

Re: Windows 7 - Multiple Registration requests

For completeness - this is, it appears, a known issue:

Annoying none the less, but not the only program with this problem.

Windows 7 - Multiple Registration requests

On New PC with Windows 7

1. Installed MM 3.2 under an Administrator account, entered my lifetime key.
2. Switched to a non-admin user account
3. Ran MM
4. Was asked for the key again.
5. Entered it again, all works OK

Is this expected behaviour?

Re: Multiple Libraries?

fyi... http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=107 - is 'high priority' but the last comment by Rusty was on 2007-06-08, so maybe not that high. See also my previous post on this thread http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4967&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=135#p189999 . To add to the ...

Re: Multiple Libraries?

STILL - multiple databases is a MUST in my opinion - it just is NOT the same as filters. And I waited quite a while to say this again. I have also been quiet quite a while - and second this for the x'th time wholeheartedly. And I still don't get why anyone using MM3 would want multiple libraries :(...

'portable'

http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Portable_Mediamonkey Says I make sure that the drive always gets J: when connected to any computer. which is not 'portable' in the way portable apps etc implement portable. If I plug a USB stick with a portable MM on it into any Windows PC, it should work r...

I've found you can get all the same functionality of a U3 drive, without the errors, for free, and compatible with any drive from sites like http://portableapps.com/ .
You could also try http://www.portablefreeware.com/

From my post on this thread on Wed Aug 17, 2005 ... could at least a command line option be added to MM to define the location of MediaMonkey.ini Then for each .ini file we can define a different DBName= location. I really do not see how this can be so hard to do, or how it would 'distract' develope...

Use iTunes.... that is indeed a high price to pay (I paid it once). As much as I would love multiple library support, I am not sure I want to sell-out my soul. Dave P.S. Per my last post, MM starts with the same filter to you last exited with so my 'Point 2' is irrelevant . Although, I could r...

Filters

Filters are half way there. Some things missing: 1. In my case I need to set Path/Filename 'contains' on the filter, which means moving files to separate path locations. Or least encode in the path which 'library' it is and hope the encoded text never appears in a future album, artist or title (item...

- MM 3.0: keep in mind that it's a Beta build and still has some unknown bugs. so I have not had a look as yet. - Using various Windows accounts is only option an if multiple users are involved. Setting up multiple accounts just for me just to have X databases in MM is excessive overhead. - Onkel_En...
