I fixed the UAC issue and uninstalled then reinstalled the service.

In Task Manager I also made sure it was using the main logon account.

This seems to be working now.

Weird.

In compatability the option for 'always run as admin' was ticked. I unticked this and it's fine now...

Even after emptying the 'auto' folder (which only had the last.fm scrobbling stuff) it still asks for admin access.

It's windows 8 so that uses my email address for the login. However when I install the service it uses the account called 'MaFt'. My email address is the only account on the PC so not sure if MMW shows the first name of my user account (which is MaFt) or if it is saying the account is called MaFt ...

When MM is open I can use DLNA just fine on my Xbox.

However, when MM is closed I just can't "see" it as a server in the Xbox. The service is running when I open up task manager.

Are there any ways to troubleshoot this?! Or any steps I can try to work through it?

Upgraded from Win 8 to Win 8.1 and now every time I launch MMW (4.0.7.1511) I get the User Access Control popup requesting admin permission.

Is this a new 'feature' of Win 8.1 or has the upgrade messed something up with MMW?

Any ideas?!

OK, It's now with 2-channel audio and the XBox plays fine.

Al the other details (video encoding etc) ae the same, just gone from 6-channel to 2-channel audio.

I couldn't see any way to transcode... All the output file types were audio. Anyway, I'm trascoding with Handbrake now. Same video format and resolution but set the audio to Stereo. Thanks for the idea, not sure why I'd not thought of transcoding the source file directly! If it works, I wonder if MM ...

Sorry, I'm somewhat confused. xrecode seems to just rip the audio from a video file.

I assumed I would need to test it with a video file otherwise it''s using a different player...?!
