The magnetic cartridges are the ones that need pre-amp - most ceramic cartridges produce enough signal strength to not warrent a pre-amp. but they may need a "ground". Also you would be better taking your source from the TAPE-OUT of a receiver as appose to the headphone jack as this usually provides ...

I have used Audacity as well for ripping Vinyl (LP's or 45's). It can save in either WAV, MP3 or OOG etc. Did I mention that it's free. It can be used to edit or split tracks. I have used it to rip both sides of an LP in one go - save the full session to MP3 format with common info added to the ID ...

For CD's that have copy protection added "Slyfox" has a program called "ANYDVD" which can be tried out for 21 days and will allow rpping of these types of CD's that want to start their own executables. Not sure though if it removes DRM. This may not solve your MM problem but should allow you to play ...

Burner Problems I had an original DVD+ burner by Sony in my Compaq laptop that I could not speed control even in Nero. Unknown to me at the time was the fact that it was only a 2X burner (not mentioned in the documentation). It always appeared like the media speed dictated the speed of the burn even ...

There is also "CDBURNER XP Pro" which is available free on the Net. It doesn't use aspi but Windows XP's STPI ( I believe that's what is called). It is simple to use. The only tip I can give is to hit the little down arrow next to the Burn button and select "Let me provide the Burn criteria" as it ...

Thanks! Also it's a 4 step processto have your cuts labled automaticaly. On splitting the LP tracks into MP3's ensure that you save each track as "Track ##" (you have to use 2 numbers such as "01") and save them within a folder named after the Artist - album cover name. 1)Then in MM scan the new ...

One last comment from me - no disrespect meant here. Defrag reorders cluster on a HD it does not apply any compression to the data within. If it did that it would be more than just mp3's affected. May be MP3 player software as a whole have a bit of lag time when taking the digital data to convert to ...

Great! - I just tried it out and it works great. I have Title then Artist (cut and paste to reorg command line). What I will mention as well is that it remembers the last settings used. So if you point to a new folder that is what will come up the next time when you target another folder to process ...

Man has it just gotten easier to name those cut in ripping LP's. 1) Rip whole LP side a and b using Audacity - don't worry if you didn't get back before side a finished just pause the recording flip and un-pause. 2) Cut out the dead space at the beginning, in between side a and b and at the end. 3 ...

Make my Day! I have just started using MM and didn't realize that Auto Org could do that. Now when I rip my LP's to MP3's I just have to lable each cut by it's track #. Auto Tag the LP using Amazon and then follow-up with the Auto Org to complete the job. I'm not too keen on the Artist being in the ...

Reverse Tagging - using Tag title to rename the file
Is it possible to auto rename a filename.mp3 to match the ID3 tag title? If I rip a CD w/o access to the Internet I get Unknown......Track #.mp3 as a file name. If I use MM Autotag from Amazon and over ride the unknown Album to match the artist and album name then repeat the search I get the Tag ...

I haven't any DRM files that I know of but I have come across a few MP3's that didn't seem to be able to play within Win Media Player even though they are tagged MP3 (May be due to DRM??). Anyways I have been able to play them by loading them into "Audacity" (Free of the WWW) and then resave the ...
