A very late update.

This had nothing to do with MM or any scripts.
The Zone Alarm anti-virus was locking files, including the database for MM.

No Zone Alarm = No Problems.

I'm wondering if someone can help a noob with a script:

What I'm trying to do is add "<composer>: " to the beginning of the Title field, for all tracks in a playlist.
But only if <Composer> isn't there already.

Well folks, It appears this was caused by a naughty 3rd party script. I've removed all my 3rd party scripts, started a fresh database, and now I can't reproduce the problem.
