Re: Show FLAC extended tag in list view
Hi, I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is finding this through Google while trying to answer the same question (I did). I also wanted the kind of sorting and filtering capabilities given to Custom tags, but applied to some Extended tags which are written by other software I use ...

Re: Magic Nodes 4.2 w/ 380 masks & real GUI (2011-07-01)[MM2
There seems to be a weird bug with the order of tree nodes using Magic Nodes 4.2 on MM 4.0.6. I haven't used MM in a while, so I don't know about earlier versions. It seems to happen when trying to position a Magic Node after the last regular collection node. I have 5 Magic Nodes that I wanted to ...

Re: DRM restrictions
Copy Control (which is the only on-disc copy protection for music CDs that I know existed) should be no problem at all. I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) to rip my music CDs, and there you don't even notice whether a disc is protected or not. Everything works just as well as if it isn't. I would have ...

Re: FLAC vs M4A
When talking about "audio formats" it is important to make the difference between codecs and containers. M4A is a container format. A container is a method of storing audio streams in a file. Per se, it does not say anything about what compression has been used to encode the audio stream. In ...
Re: IPAD's
Jailbreaking is definitely and absolutely legal. U.S. courts have ruled so, and such a ruling tends to set an international precedent, since laws in this area are pretty much unified across the globe. Bottomline, it's your device, you bought it, and nobody can tell you what you can or can't do with ...

Re: MP3 Player recommendation
I doubt that any players support multi-tags. In my experience most players already do a shitty enough job even with very basic, legal ID3v2 tagging. It just seems to be not very high up on any manufacturer's priority list. Also, I think 99% of people do not go beyond what ID3v1 already offered ...

Re: Database crash: Fastest way to import tracks from scratc
If you deactivate "Update file info from Tags when rescanning files" your second scan should be much faster though, minus the fingerprinting going on. At least I hope fingerprinting will still happen then...

Re: A couple of newbie questions
Is it just a freakish occurence on my computer, or doesn't MediaMonkey already come with a dummy Winamp.exe in its directory? I just checke with the latest 4.0.6 build and it definitely creates a Winamp.exe in the installation path, so you don't have to do anything. It's 30 kB in size and even ...

Re: Organizing My Library
That and so much more. Just install and try it, most of it is really self-explanatory. If not, there's always the extensive help. 1) In your library, you will have a node Files to Edit — Duplicate Titles and Duplicate Content . The former shows tracks that seem to be duplicates based on tags. For t ...

Re: Custom Fields - How do you use them?
This is the system I have developed over the years and that I find perfect for my purposes: Custom 1: Catalogue (label catalogue number of release) Custom 2: Release (release date as yyyy-mm-dd for easy sorting, with '00' for unknown days or months) Custom 3: Source (recorded from where; e.g. CDDA ...

Re: To flac or not....
I'd say FLAC is worth it in general. With today's storage prices, the number of GBs you can get per dollar, which on average will only increase over time, it's true that storage is not really an argument anymore (although to be honest I'm currently drowning a bit in my external HDDs.) I think ...

Re: Record and Release Date field help/suggestion
I use one of the custom fields for the release date. I have only MP3 and FLAC files, and in both of them the custom tags are stored to the file fine.
The format I use is YYYY-MM-DD with '00' for unknown months and days.

Re: Media Monkey Rated #1 Player of the Year 2012
Heh, but it speaks volumes that they still ranked #1 even though the reviewers obviously only managed to scratch the surface of MM's abilities (or used an old version to test?) Or maybe they compiled the feature table using data from the "Comparison of media players" (or something) page on Wikipedia ...

Re: How many "lifetime license" users out there?
I'm a lifetime user. I first found out about MediaMonkey back in high school, a friend of mine (who actually could also claim to have introduced me to music itself) used it to manage his collection. So I always got to use it when we used his computer to play music at our little barbecues and stuff ...

For example, if you have mixed Artist and Composer, if you click e.g. on node "John Lennon", which tracks should be displayed? Tracks where Artist = "John Lennon" or Composer = "John Lennon" or any of them? Another important question is, how to write such mask? ...\<Artist>|<Composer>\... maybe ...
