Album art keeps disappearing from Album with Detail View

Post by Rayi23 »

Lately, while I am using Album with detail view, the Album cover disappears from Album with Detail View. But when I click the generic album icon, it will display to the bottom left area. And when I go to properties, it is still there. It is very annoying. I hate inconsistency like that. Generally, I don't use Album with detail view but I work with mentally challenged people and I find this a easier view for them. They get to see the album. Media Monkey isn't exactly easy to use but everything else is worse. I don't recall having this problem in Version 3. I didn't notice it till I updated to 3.1. I have tried to uninstall 3.1 but it seems when I now use version 3, I get error messages. The price of progress, although I have yet find anything really that great in version 3.1 to pay for it.

I can't reproduce the problem, how do you store your art?

Btw, you get error messages when downgrading because the database is updated with the update to 3.1 and is no longer compatible with previous versions of MM. If you delete the database file manually (you can find its location in the support section of the website) you'll be able to rescan your files to create a new database and use an older version.

I basically get a copy of the album art on line in jpg and place it in the artist-CD folder. I then go to properties and check off selection and click add. I don't know why but every now and then the album doesn't show up in the left had corner; it only shows a generic icon. But when I click one of the songs, the album does show on left in the Album art placeholder. One thing I have been thinking about lately, is it ok to place larger album art in there. Not real large but maybe CD size. Will this affect redrawing? I've noticed that it takes a sec or 2 to redraw as you are scrolling.

Could you elaborate on this a little more. How do you delete the database file? I just can't stand this annoying disappearance of the Album icon. I really don't see anything in 3.1 that means anything to me.I would rather just use version 3 since it worked without any problems. thanks

I got the same problem with my brand new library on version 3.1.0.1256.

I don't see anything related to that subject on the link above.

Ray asked how to delete the database, which is answered at the above link. Read the whole thread.

After you uninstall MediaMonkey 3.1, you are left with a MediaMonkey folder in "Local Disk C"-- "Documents & Settings' --user--local settings. There you will find the application data folder. I just deleted the whole MediaMonkey folder. You have to go to a folder---Tools--options--and check to view hidden files to view "local settings". It did the trick for me. Unless you want to try the link below. I decided not to and just deleted the whole folder:

BTW: The problem I'm having is definitely with version 3.1. I am absolutely not having any problems with Album view now. I also hated the way version 3.1 took a sec or to redraw it's Album. This doesn't occur in version 3 to the extent that 3.1 does. I'll wait tell another version comes out to try it again; hopefully they will address this; Of course, there's always people that don't experience the same thing but it all depends how we use it and the complete understanding of the problem.
