I have a high end PC running Win7 64-bit and am running build 3.2.1.1297 of MediaMonkey . QuadCore Q9450 CPU. 8GB RAM. Very fast HDD's and optical drives.
When I try to burn a playlist to CD with auto-conversion set to turn FLAC files into MP3 files, it fails EVERY TIME with the same error -- "could not write the image layout to the disk". Oddly enough, the same playlist burned as an AUDIO CD completes the burn just fine every time. I've tried this with both optical drives in the same PC and in 2 other drives in another PC that has completely different hardward (also Win7) -- same result. This is very irritating. I tried the various suggestions that come up in a google search, none of them did anything.
FYI: the FLAC files were created by MediaMonkey from original CDs at the default compression level. They all play fine and will convert fine if converted manually via MediaMonkey, but I REALLY WANT to be able to burn these without having to manually convert them every time.
This is a real deal breaker for me as I would like to continue my collection as FLAC going forward, but it's a major PITA if I cannot get this auto-convert feature to work in MM.
Cannot burn discs if auto-convert is used [#6517]

Can't replicate, but if you could send us Support ticket that includes Debug log I'll see that it is fixed ASAP.

Re: Cannot burn discs if auto-convert is used
Argh.
The debug version is based on a newer version than I had installed. I tried the debug version and it didn't produce an error -- however, it also didn't work right. The regular, non-debug version of 3.2.2.1300 had the same result (read on).
The disc was created, but the supposed MP3 files didn't work. Upon closer inspection with the program MediaInfo, it showed that the 'mp3' files were still FLAC files on the inside. In fact, the file size of the 'mp3's' matched the file size of the original flac. So, while it 'appeared' like it MediaMonkey was doing a conversion, no conversion actually took place. Weird, and very irritating.
Next suggestion???

Re: Cannot burn discs if auto-convert is used
I just installed MediaMonkey on an entirely separate PC, one that never had MM on it before so that it had no possibility of a bad batch of settings.
Once again, I go to make a data CD with the auto-convert feature set and I end up with a disc that LOOKS like it is all MP3s, but in actuality, the FLAC files (first three of six) are still the same files, just with .MP3 as their extension. I'll repeat -- those FLAC files were created in the first place by MediaMonkey from rips of my own actual CDs.
Here is a screen shot so that you can see I'm not crazy.

The top window is the CD-R in drive E that I just burned. The first 3 files were FLAC originally, and the second 3 were MP3 originally.
The bottom window is the source directory for the FLAC files. You'll see that the file size hasn't changed a single byte.

Re: Cannot burn discs if auto-convert is used
Finally, replicated. I wonder why I haven't been able to replicate before.
