Comments in MM are not updated on library rescan [#7159]

For MP3 files - I want the MM COMMENT field to match the COMMENTS field as seen via Internet Explorer (Properties-Details-Comments) and Windows Media Player (Advanced Tag Editor - Comments). Out of 6000 mp3s, only a few hundred are correct. The rest of them seem to be showing the text from Custom fields as the Comments. I have tried everything to get these comments aligned with no success!

I would think that you would simply File Add/Rescan Tracks to Library to pick up the right comments - but that does not work! If I were to go in and change the Comment field in Windows Media Player or via Internet Explorer - it would pick up the change; however I don't have time to update 5500+ mp3s so MM can pick up the change.

There has got to be a solution to this problem but after 6+ hours of trying everything, I am at a loss to figure this out. I even deleted the mm.db file, cleared the library, and rescanned everything - but MM refuses to pick up the COMMENTS. (Remember that I WANT the COMMENTS as contained in the mp3 files. I don't want the Comments that MM must have in it's database)

I use info in the Comments field to help with my auto playlists so I really need this info to be accurate. I hope someone out there can help; otherwise I may have to abandon MM and start using Windows Media Player.

If you cleared the library (removed the correct MM.DB http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=17) and you keep getting the old comments back it seems Windows (Explorer/Media Player) have written to a new comment field. You might want to send a sample file to support.

Also what version of MediaMonkey are you using?

PS. The settings under Tools > Options > Library control the rescanning behavior. If you enable Update Track info from Tags when rescanning files and disable Only for files with changed timestamp or size MediaMonkey should rescan all tracks and read their tags into the database. If Windows saved the comments field correctly they should show in MediaMonkey after running File > Add/Rescan Tracks with these settings.

I sent a sample file to support as requested.

I also previously disabled "only for files with changed timestamp or size" and it still does not pick up the Comments. I have since downloaded another tool (MP3TAG). The MP3TAG tool shows the Comment field exactly as is displayed in Explorer and when I change it via MP3TAG it also gets updated in Explorer; however a rescan via MM still does not pick it up in MM. Still the only way to get MM to get updated is to edit the Comment in Windows Explorer.

If there was some easy way to refresh or save all tags or all Comment tags in Explorer - then I would be happy if MM would pick up the changes, but I haven't found that solution either. I was hoping MP4TAG would help with this, but that doesn't work either.

There is probably something funky about the tags in the files as MediaMonkey should pickup the changes.
