Does not clear library

Post by Cloudberry »

I select clear library, and answer YES, but nothing seems to happen. Where should I look?

If you want to completely nuke your library and start over, you can manually delete the database if the "Clear Database..." option isn't working.

The database is here in XP: -

C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB

And here in Vista/Windows 7: -

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\MM.DB

With MM closed, if you either delete the MM.DB file or move it to another folder (doing that means you can restore it if you change your mind), then restart MM, your library will be completely cleared and you can start over.

Oh yeah - The above locations apply to MediaMonkey 4. If you're using an earlier version, here's an article that shows you where to find the database on your PC: -

Make sure that you enter YES in all caps. You should have a clear DB then, check the collection or filter nodes to see if there are any tracks still in the library.

I enter YES, so that should be fine. Still nothing seem to happen! I close down MM and restart, same tracks. Quite a few, will it require time?

If you have the File Monitor enabled it will re-add the files after Clear Library. Also it doesn't affect the Now Playing nor My Computer node as these are not Library views.

Hi, To my knowledge I have no File Monitor enabled.

Really, after I enter YES, nothing happens, I sit and watch and there is no message in the status window, not one file dissapears. I am not playing anything.

I've just tried it on a portable installation, it works fine.

OK, that's great as a start. But what can I try? Is it risk free to delete the files as suggested earlier in this thread?

As long as you make sure you select from Library only.

I probably misunderstand something! Will deleting the MM.DB as suggested in post 2, give me the same result as a successful "clear library"?
