Artwork attached to Artist

Post by T-buch »

For my all my classical Music-files I would like to attach artwork/pictures to the composers / artists and not to The Album
Even though the Pictures is embedded in the flac-file /each song, the MM can only show one artwork/picture for an Album
That means, that I in "show art with details" medie manager browser window will see a picture of for instance Brahms in stead of the right picture of Mozart

(When playing a file - it shows the right artwork / Picture of the composer)

Is there a way so the artwork is attached to the Composer / artist and not the Album?

This screen dump will show what I mean

Art is Album centric in MediaMonkey. Do the files shown in the screenshot have those Arts attached (check Artwork tab in the Properties window) or do only have the Gershwin Art not shown in the screenshot attached.

As you could read from my ticket (I hope that - English is not my first language) - I all ready know that.
I was asking if there was a way to make the Art Artist or Composer centralized in stead.

To answer you Question:
The files shown in the screenshot have all the last picture (This IS Gershwin) attached direct in the flac-file (I can see that in the "Art Window)

The "wrong" pictures of Gershwin is because of others pictures from other files are also attached to the Album
In fact after a while MM Replaces all Artworks / picture in the files to one artwork / picture for all files in the Album

So again:
if there was a way to make the Artworks Artist or Composer centralized in stead?

As I indicated, no

MediaMonkey doesn't add other Art unless you allow it to. It also should be showing the first Art associated with a file (but here I think you run into issues as it will show the first Art in the first file on the Album if I'm not mistaken). Make sure you disable Scan file directories for Art under Tools > Options > Library to prevent it from picking up images in the folders and associating them with the files in the folder. Secondly whenever editing Art make sure the option to Apply to all files on Album/Series isn't selected (unless you want it to).

Can you please confirm that for the first file shown (just that file) in the screenshot (09 Summertime) that the image shown isn't the first image listed in the Artwork tab of the Properties window.

At first - Thanks very much for your reply

Are you completely sure that MM cannot show artwork associated with the picture in a file in stead of showing another picture - perhaps from the first file in an album list?
(I loved it otherwise what it is saying in MMs information page (http://www.mediamonkey.com/information/free/): If you’re a control freak, MediaMonkey gives you all the control you'll want. ;-)

Also thanks for your advise - I cannot quite understand what you mean in your second advise: "...make sure the option to Apply to all files on Album/Series isn't selected" - I can only find a "Apply to all selected files", which I guess I should use - when this is exactly what I want MM to do by selecting all the files with the same composer.

Here to confirm what you are asking for:

As the Mantis entry shows it is currently not possible. It will always choose an Artwork from only 1 file on the Album and show it for all files on the Album.

Then you're still using MediaMonkey 3. That option will add the shown Artwork in the Artwork tab to all files on the Album, so use with care.

I am using Version: 4.0.1.1461

Why should it add the picture to all files on the Album when it said "Apply to all selected files" - I have only select the files from the same composer - not all the files on an album?
