When I'm in "Show Art with Details" view, I can pick what field my files are sorted with. Why am I limited to just a few fields in "Show Art" view? I assume this is by design, but I can't imagine the reason for it.
If MM supported the "AlbumArtistSort" tag, it wouldn't be as big a deal... but since I have to use a custom tag to achieve the same functionality, I sure wish I could access it in the Show Art view.

That's because you're seeing 'Albums' and not tracks. So for example a sort on Track# wouldn't accomplish anything as you're viewing Albums.

Well, sure, that field wouldn't do anything. But there are others that would make sense in that context, such as Composer, Producer, or Album Volume, that aren't there. And of course the custom tags, which in many cases, such as mine, might apply to albums. I wish we could just add what we wanted, and if it doesn't do anything, so what?Lowlander wrote:That's because you're seeing 'Albums' and not tracks. would be the same as Track# as they're often different for the different tracks on the Album. Why not use the Art with Details view where you would be able to see these values?skeezix wrote:Composer, Producer

Well, "Artist" (as opposed to "Album Artist") is also often different for the different tracks, but that's still in Art View...Lowlander wrote:would be the same as Track# as they're often different for the different tracks on the Album. Anyway, we've kinda gotten off-track here. My main point is that there's no way to sort by Album Artist correctly in Art View. I want John Zorn to appear under Z, not J. MM doesn't support the "ARTISTSORT" or "ALBUMARTISTSORT" tags, so my workaround is to use two of the custom tags for those values ... which would be fine, except I can't sort by custom tags in Art View.

Re: Details in "Show Art" view
Well, that's cool, I'm glad to see it's on the radar... but says it's low priority because people can use custom tags for the same purpose. Which is true, except that I can't use custom tags in Art view. So... is there a ticket for that issue? Can I open one if not? (Unless you think 2915 will be implemented soon and the newly supported tag(s) will be added to Art view, in case it would no longer be an issue.)Lowlander wrote:That has already been requested: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=2915
