Suggestions on fixing my messed up Album Art?

Post by Darryl_Gittins »

My music collection used to be arranged such that each album was in its own folder and I think much of the album art was saved on a folder basis. All was well until I decided to rearrange my folder structure to make things easier to access using Plex. So I ran a move operation to move everything such that instead of folders for each album, there are now folders for each Genre. When I did this, the artwork for much of the collection was scrambled. Presumably many tracks were using artwork that was stored in a picture file that was in the folder instead of in the mp3 itself. My understanding of how this works gets foggy here. The end result was that the same image was used for many tracks off many different albums. So dumb of me. Felt like I stepped in poo.

So at this point I'm wondering what the best way is to fix it. With the latest version of MM, the automatic album art feature seems so terrific, I'm wondering if I should just search for and delete all .jpg files in my music folder and then let MM slowly restore all the art. Would that be a good strategy? Or will I be stepping in the poo again like I did when I moved everything in the first place.

Any suggestions?

While I'm on the topic, in MM options, what exactly dos the "Scan File Directories For Artwork" setting do?
Thanks!!

I'm thinking maybe a script that will remove the album art from all tracks on the current album for the now playing track? assignable to a taskbar button?

It checks the folder where your track(s) is (are) for album artwork (.jpg files). If there is some image in the same folder as the track, it will link the image to the track(s).

Album art tagger addon can perform many batch operations on artwork.

01. Extract artwork (copy from tag to mask)
02. Embed artwork (copy from mask to tag)
03. Remove artwork (delete from tag)
04. Extract artwork and resize external image
05. Remove artwork not matching storage
06. Remove artwork not matching size
07. Remove artwork which is invalid
08. Remove artwork except first image
09. Assign a front cover image
10. Set artwork description of images
11. Embed artwork (convert link to tag)
12. Rename linked artwork to folder.jpg
13. Rename linked artwork to mask
14. Edit images one by one (no confirmation)
15. Remove artwork not matching cover type
16. Make front cover the first image
