My music collection used to be arranged such that each album was in its own folder and I think much of the album art was saved on a folder basis. All was well until I decided to rearrange my folder structure to make things easier to access using Plex. So I ran a move operation to move everything such that instead of folders for each album, there are now folders for each Genre. When I did this, the artwork for much of the collection was scrambled. Presumably many tracks were using artwork that was stored in a picture file that was in the folder instead of in the mp3 itself. My understanding of how this works gets foggy here. The end result was that the same image was used for many tracks off many different albums. So dumb of me. Felt like I stepped in poo.
So at this point I'm wondering what the best way is to fix it. With the latest version of MM, the automatic album art feature seems so terrific, I'm wondering if I should just search for and delete all .jpg files in my music folder and then let MM slowly restore all the art. Would that be a good strategy? Or will I be stepping in the poo again like I did when I moved everything in the first place.
Any suggestions?
While I'm on the topic, in MM options, what exactly dos the "Scan File Directories For Artwork" setting do?
Thanks!!
