i was using itunes up until now and decided to move to MediaMonkey because a friend recommended it. my library was organised on itunes but when i moved it to MM it wasn't. i tried the auto organised feature but it didn't work, so i figured the tagging was different for itunes and MM and clicked auto tag from file name. for some reason it changed all the artist values to the album names, and all song names to number of track - artist - name of song.
so now for example "the wall" by pink floys is filed under artist: the wall, album: the wall, song: 01 - pink floyd - hey you.
when i tried to go back to itunes it was all mest up in there too, it couldn't find any song and had tons of unnecessary duplicates.
the more i try to fix it the more messed up it gets. i realize this is probably a lost cause but if anyone could help me save at least some of my library...

Auto-Tag from Filename needs to be configured. It also shows the changes it will make prior to applying so make sure the changes are desirable.
If your folder/filenames still contain the correct information you can use Auto-Tag from Filename to correct things. Note that you can only use Auto-Tag from Filename on folder/filenames with the same format. So if you have:
file 1 as Artist - Title.mp3
file 2 as Title - Artist.mp3
file 3 as Artist - Title.mp3
you can use Auto-Tag from Filename with the mask <Artist> - <Title> only on file 1 and 3. For file 2 you'll have to run Auto-Tag from Filename separately with mask <Title> - <Artist>.
