Frisky Radio Stream issues [#12417]

Post by MonkeyChecker »

Hi Folks,

I'm pretty new to MM and very enthusiastic since it seems a great replacement to itunes for me.

Now I've run into issues when opening / listen to URL http://www.friskyradio.com/frisky.m3u or one of it's stream contents (e.g. http://stream2.friskyradio.com/frisky_mp3_hi) directly: MM load and hangs and jumps and the stream appears totally broken. Other meadia players work fine on the stream.

But MM plays all other internet radio streams also fine and I've searched a lot... I've found http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=38490 and this made me thinking about the stream itself. I've tested around and figured out that the mime headers from Frisky appear to be different from other radio stations:

Frisky:

Code: Select all

$ lynx -mime_header --dump  http://stream.friskyradio.com:9000/frisky_mp3_hi
ICY 200 OK
icy-notice1:<BR>This stream requires <a href="http://www.winamp.com">Winamp</a><BR>
icy-notice2:SHOUTcast DNAS/posix(linux x64) v2.2.1.109<BR>
icy-name:FRISKY | feelin' frisky?
icy-genre:Electronic
icy-url:http://www.friskyradio.com
content-type:audio/mpeg
icy-pub:1
icy-br:128
Other station (example):

Code: Select all

$ lynx -mime_header --dump http://mp3channels.webradio.antenne.de/80er-kulthits
HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Content-Type: audio/mpeg
icy-br:128
ice-audio-info: ice-samplerate=44100;ice-bitrate=128;ice-channels=2
icy-br:128
icy-description:ANTENNE BAYERN 80er Kulthits
icy-genre:Pop
icy-name:ANTENNE BAYERN 80er Kulthits
icy-pub:0
icy-url:http://80erkulthits.antenne.de/80erkulthits
Server: Icecast 2.3.2-kh31
Cache-Control: no-cache
Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT
Pragma: no-cache
So my question is: How can I work around this issue? It seems like a "bug" from Frisky, specially the "Content-Type"-line might be invalid since it might be case sensitive and a space is missing too. On the other side works the Frisky stream with other players too (tested with winamp, vlc, itunes, musicbee).

Any ideas? Any chance to get it work with MM? :)

Thanks a lot!

Same here with http://mp3channels.webradio.antenne.de/80er-kulthits

Try open both Lowlender and This link using MMW File -> Open File/URL

Thanks Lowlander and Pavle!

I have MM 4.1.5.1719 standard with Windows 8, 64bit latest Updates on a Lenovo Notebook T430s.

I still can reproduce my problem with all 3 Frisky streams (MM File -> Open File/URL). When I reboot Windows and immediately start MM the 1st stream works almost fine. But when I switch the streams a couple of times it's becoming worse. Sounds like the stream is "too slow". But all 3 streams work perfectly with all my other players. And also other radio station work fine with MM.

I'm completely frustrated with that - just moving from itunes and MM does the best job with synching my android mobile. What could I try n this issue or what other information do you need?

Thanks,
Michael.

You can always capture it in a debug log (step 4b) and send the log to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69

Frisky Radio Stream issues

Post by MonkeyChecker »

Hi there,

I'm moving into the bug area, since it's becoming very technical and special:

Please find the short abstract of my problem here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =1&t=78504 - I can reproduce exactly the same problem on a second pc too and I've even tested different locations, means different internet connections. Please note that the issue does not rise every time - it's only in about 90% of all my trials (independent of night and day times). All other players work with Frisky streams in 100% of my tests. As well as all other radio streams worked perfectly with MMW. It's only MMW vs. Frisky...

For now here are the details with PC 1:

* Short Video incl. audio demonstrating the issue:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ixkge ... 0_1707.swf

* In the video I used debug version of MMW and captured the debug log which is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/4i4yt ... bgview.log

* And some information of the PC:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/rrm6enm61 ... sinfo1.PNG
http://www.mediafire.com/view/m6b07v8jn ... o_disk.PNG

What else do you need to analyse more in depth?

Thanks,
Michael.

Just send the debug log to support as suggested.

Okay, cool! A configurable buffer or so would definitely help, I guess. Thanks Pavle!

Once when 1724 gets out (in a few days) please test it should be much better now.

I tested 1724 internally and resent for more tweaking

This is fixed in MM5 and we added more code in MM5 to prevent such issues.
