Hello,
I am trying to organize some of my tv shows using the auto-tag from filename option. All the filenames are correct but much of the other data needs to be updated such as the title, episode #, and season #. I have figured out the correct formatting using the auto-tag function but once i apply the auto-tag the actual file data is not being changed. The tags are only changing in mediamonkey. I am trying to organize my data for plex so this is useless for me.
Is there something im missing or is this a bug?
Thanks

Re: Trying to edit tags in video files
It depends on the type of video files. Actual files are not always updated.

Re: Trying to edit tags in video files
I am trying to tag mkv files. There is no way to write the changes to the actual file? Is this a limitation with mediamonkey or with the mkv codec?
Re: Trying to edit tags in video files
Why are they read only?
Re: Trying to edit tags in video files
MediaMonkey can only read MKV tags, it can't write them at the moment.

Is this going to change any time soon? I cant find any alternatives that tags mkv files.

Doubt it. If it's any help, there's a command line tool out there called mkvpropedit which claims to make basic changes without need to remux. The same developer has a frontend for that as well, search for MKVToolNix, which includes other tools for handling mkv. I can't vouch for it, as I've never used it (or mkv) but it appears to be the only serious option.
