MediaMonkey_4.1.16.1836 problem

Post by williamlporter »

Things slowed down with MediaMonkey_4.1.16.1836 especially when I am working in a folder (not MM library). When I go to access a folder on my computer through Media Monkey it takes a very long time for the contents of the folder to come up. I switched back to the previous version and the folder content comes up quickly.
Just to see if maybe MediaMonkey_4.1.16.1836 didn't load correctly, I reloaded 4.1.6 and, again, the content of a folder took a very long time to load. So I went back to 4.1.5.

Is this a known problem with 4.1.6?
:(
I have nearly 200,000 songs in my library. If I click on the Entire Library in 4.1.6, the library comes up quickly. It's just when I access a folder on my computer through Media Monkey that it takes a very long time for the content to come up. that

Hi,
Unlike Library browser (Location nodes emulates Folder browsing), navigating thru folders reread each files tags before it shows them and on HDD that are fragmented or slower models can be pain in the ... (15 Years ago I would say that you are imagine things and that it is blazing fast, now in SSD/M.2/U.2 era classic HDD is slow). It is faster to Scan files in MMW library and then browse using location than browse folders :( I mean unless you have good reason to browse folders.

Hi,
I've just tested this and in my case both 4.1.15 & 4.1.16 takes the similar time to load a folder under My Computer node.
Loading 10000 files takes about 30 seconds in both version (tracks on SSD 256 GB, most of the tracks are in MP3 format).
Which file format are you using? Could you share debug logs (item 4b here http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69 ) from both versions (4.1.15 and 4.1.16) to compare what is slower when reading folders (file tags)?

Thanks!

Hi, we have found the problem, thanks for reporting. To fix this immediately, you can take id3lib.dll from 4.1.15 and replace the one in 4.1.16 (it is fully compatible).
