Audiobooks for Sansa Fuze

Post by SBMongoos »

I'm new to the audio book thing and could really use some help.

I assume audio books are in CDA format like music CDs so they ultimately get ripped to MP3 format. Assuming this is correct. I want to then use MM to move these MP3 audio books onto my Sansa Fuze. The Fuze has a folder called Audio Books. I understand that anything in this folder will get be able to get paused, and whatever features audio books can be manipulated with. However, it seems when moving these files to the Fuze to set it to USB: MSC mode. Highlight the tracks I want to move then right click select Send To -> Folder (Copy) -> F:\AudioBooks\ (or initially -> F:[Sansa Fuze] -> Audiobooks). This makes sense but it copies all the MP3 files into this one folder. It does not copy over the folders the MP3 files are in. The folder being the book name. I have it setup similar to how music MP3 files are setup Artist -> Album -> Songs.mp3. Does it not work this way with audio books?

Sad to see no replies on this thread, as I have the same question. My audiobook is broken into folders like Author/Disc <1-42>. It gets synced to my Fuze like music, so it isn't displayed in the Audiobooks section. I can't tell why. It shows up in the Audiobooks tab of the sync setup for this device, though.

I guess I should also add that I am confused at the previous poster's comment about dragging and dropping the files...shouldn't a simple sync get them in the right place?

I cannot get audiobooks to sync with the Fuze, either. Since there are no responses, I guess we are to assume that there are bugs that prevent MM from working as we think it should. A search for "audiobooks" in the MM help file was not helpful.

Have you made sure that all your audiobooks are Labeled with Genre "audiobook" ? I know it sounds stupid but I had to ask? first make sure it's labeled audiobook

second make sure the book in question is in the MM library.

You can do this two ways you asked how to do this in MM so I’ll spare the drag and drop option.

if you want all your audiobooks in the audiobook folder then you'll have to do it manually. First connect the player to the computer and open MM, select the audiobook in question. then the fuze icon should be seen in the Music explorer tree.

The icon shows for the fuze and any expanded ram MicroDS card you have, up in the Media explorer window. Right mouse click on it and Configure device . select Audiobooks and all your audiobooks should show up under the this tab, if they are labeled Audiobook other wise they will show up in the music folder. Check Genre settings for audiobook. other wise the fuse thinks it's a music file. doesn't matter if it's in the audiobook folder or not. Remember that the same goes with podcast's and the Genre podcast. now check mark the audiobook you want and hit ok and now here is the tricky part getting it in that folder. Click the Advanced option in the corner of the Device profile. Here you will see a option for Destination. Now type in a destination point. \Audiobooks\<Album>\<Filename> this will upload all the audiobooks to your path that you have specify. Now hit the sync button and MM will move all your selected audiobooks to your player. Or should anyway. It’s takes some time to get right.

it seems Music Monkey wants to sync all audiobooks to the same folder as music by default as you guys have pointed out. I haven't had MM that long but I'm figure something new each day. I mostly just move audiobooks manually by a means of copy and paste using the MTP interface. just find that folder labeled Audiobook and copy and paste it there. other wise Yes MM will paste them all together in one big folder as we've all found out.

More information can be found at http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives ... layers.php

The reason i point out this article is it says this "The Sansa Clip and Fuze are generally considered some of the best audiobook players out there. On top of supporting every single service mentioned here, they also have a separate section on the player for audiobooks and another separate one for podcasts. That means that you can put MP3 files under audiobooks and get special features like delete, auto-bookmark and playback speed controls. To get the files marked as audiobooks, either set the ID3 tag as "audiobook" or put the files in the AUDIOBOOKS-folder. "¬

hope this helps
