Collapsible playlist folders on iPod? [#6758]

Post by ocapacha »

I've really come to appreciate MediaMonkey. I bought the lifetime license and didn't think there would ever be any feature in iTunes that MediaMonkey is missing … but there actually is:

In iTunes, if you have a lot of playlists you can group them in folders (e.g. all playlists containing movie themes in one folder). You can actually do the same within MediaMonkey (group playlists within other playlists) but unlike with iTunes that collapsible tree structure won't get transferred to my iPod. I just have an endless list of playlists on my device which doesn't make navigating playlists as convenient as it used to be with iTunes.

Any idea how I can achieve this with MediaMonkey for my iPod Classic or will this feature be included in future releases?

Thanx,
Stefan

Stefan,

Thanks for the idea. We'll look into the possibility of including this in MM 4.x.

Will this be a feature for ipods only or will other players be able to benefit from this feature request?

Probably ipods only. I'm not aware that many (if any) other players support this. In fact, it isn't even supported on all iPod models (including not supported on the iPod touch and iPHone).

This (0005371 and its duplicate 6758) seems fixed in 4.0.0.1355? I'm *assuming* the original bug was reported on iPhone, but actually thihis affects all phones?
I've connected my HTC phone, added the hierarchical playlists to the list of sync'd files and clicked Autosync. Seems to work.

That is not the reported issue. Some devices (iPod nano, maybe iPod video) support hierarchical playlists on the actual iPod itself. The issue was never in syncing them from MM to the player.
