Problem syncing two iPods
I have two iPods. One recent nano and an old 40 Gig HD device. I would like to sync both with MM with different configurations.
However each time I connect an iPod it will copy the config from the last iPod that was connected.
Is it possible to sync two iPods with MM? If so what am I doing wrong? I'm using the lastest MM3 release.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
Did you name the ipod? You need to name you devices before plugging them in. I think you can name them in the properties.

I just tested a fully clean install with the latest mm version but no luck.

4.0.0.1445 MM fails to distinguish between different iPods.
I have two iPods, a 5G Nano and a 2G classic.
When connecting either one of them MM does not remember it's settings (including auto-sync playlists) if the other iPod was connected in between. In other words, MM only remembers the settings from the last iPod that was connected and will force those settings on the next iPod.
Now I've had this same problem in MM3 (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 69#p283469) and was hoping this would be solved with MM4 but unfortunately that isn't case.

Ok I see, yet again, the mods have seen it necessary to delete my topic and add the content to a place where it doesn't get addressed by devs. I posted the above in the MM4 forum for a reason: this problem exists in MM4, not just in MM3.
Also, there is no problem with the synchronizing itself at all. That works 100% as it should. The problem is that MM does not remember settings for specific devices.

The beta forum is for new bugs in the beta builds of MM4. This is an old issue.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
It's not just an old issue, it's an issue that persists in the latest release for MM4. Is there some sort of weird policy that issues can only be sparkling new if they want to have a chance of being addressed?
This topic has existed for quite some time and it was never addressed by a dev. When I posted other issues in the beta testing forum in the recent past they were addressed and resolved and the devs have been thankful that such issues were posted.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
It's an old issue as it already existed before MediaMonkey 4. It already has been reported here. I don't know when this will be addressed, but issues raised since version 2 have to be addressed. The developers simply have to weigh what gets done and what will be postponed.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
It looks like this is an old issue that was already addressed several builds ago. see http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5674
I wonder if maybe you need to start with a new database or else to clear out your two current iPod sync profiles so that new ones can be made? Perhaps the first time you tried with two iPods this was an issue and the error has persisted in your database since that time.
I don't have two iPods to test it myself but I know that the devs and Rusty have several iPod models and I would be surprised if this was still an issue in the latest builds and it somehow was not detected by them yet.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
I have tested this with cleanly installed iPods and a fresh database and that doesn't make any difference.nohitter151 wrote:It looks like this is an old issue that was already addressed several builds ago. see http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5674

I don't know how to clear an iPod profile though. Please explain.

If you've done it with a fresh database and it still persists in MM4 then there really is a problem.Onweerwolf wrote: I have tested this with cleanly installed iPods and a fresh database and that doesn't make any difference.

Re: Problem syncing two iPods
Hi,
do have these 2 iPods same drive letter? I suppose that they have?
It would be helpful if you could export device profiles of both the devices.
It will export as MMDC files and attach the files here.
Also debug log would be useful, Just start the DbgView app prior the MM and attach the log here. How to do this is described here (item 4b) : http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341
Thanks!
