Hello all. I am trying to make the switch from iTunes to MM for my music sync needs but I am having issues with getting the "volume-matching" features to work.
When I rip tracks I do NOT level volumes, I simply have MM analyze them. I confirm that this piece works because when I play back songs on the computer with "Level Playback volume to..." checked, the songs are volume-matched, while when "Level Playback volume to...." is NOT checked, volume varies between songs.
But when I sync to iPhone (4S, IOS 6.1.2), volume varies whether I have SoundCheck turned on or off on the phone.
To test this I'm using two versions of the same song (Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl") which I have on two different CDs (a 1980s vintage copy of "Decade" that was mastered pretty quietly and a recent remaster that is mastered loud).
What's the secret to having the volume-matching information from MM transfer properly to the iPhone?

Re: SoundCheck/Volume problems with iPhone
No "secret" to it at all. Assuming you have analyzed the volume of the tracks in MM (tools > Analyze volume), the volume levels transfer over with the tracks during sync.

As I stated, the volume information is NOT being transferred during sync, which is why my two versions of "Cinnamon Girl" play at significantly different volumes on my phone but at comparable volumes on my PC.

I suppose all you can do is provide the tracks to the MM team for testing. I'm not able to reproduce any problem, volume levels transfer over just fine to my iPhone 4.Guest wrote:As I stated, the volume information is NOT being transferred during sync, which is why my two versions of "Cinnamon Girl" play at significantly different volumes on my phone but at comparable volumes on my PC.
