It would seem to be the case that it doesn't: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_580TXN727/ ... 0Functions

Check if Boxee supports DLNA (it seems it initially didn't) as you may be able to order the remote separately. I know that Roku doesn't. You also have other solutions you can check out like ChromeCast and Plair. I haven't tried any, but it seems Plair supports the Google Play store allowing you to install any DLNA client including MediaMonkey for Android. Most game consoles will also be able to act as DLNA client and if you're lucky your TV can as well.

My TV will; I can play video from there; but no sound will go through the receiver as its HDMI out only; the smart TV portion isn't connected to any particular input so audio isn't routed via HDMI :(

I haven't had the boxee up and running in awhile so I will check it out but I thought it supported DLNA but it was pretty slow IIRC

I don't really need all those features of the boxee anymore since my smart TV and PCs can handle it all now. I'd rather get something smaller and only just does DLNA directly to the AVR via HDMI

I saw this; someone mentioned using xbmc here in this thread;

http://imx.solid-run.com/product/cubox-i4-pro/ for $130 I don't have to build it and it comes with xbmc :) and I'd have to program a remote to work with it since it doesn't come with its own.

This is starting to look better than the Boxee in terms of my needs since boxee is kind of in remission right now and getting a replacement remote is next to impossible thanks to Samsung who shelved it as they usually do with new acquisitions.

This AVR stuff is getting to be very expensive considering I'm not getting what I need; so I will have to convince the store to order me the one I want even though its not the brand they carry (I can order it myself but I want to see if the store can get it for me without more cost).

Oh, I like the idea of chromecast; its USB but the USB on the receiver is for photos/music; I don't know that I can run an OS off it (I can on the TV though) if I could run chromecast off the receiver that's really the way I'd go.

Chromecast is HDMI and runs a Google OS. Plair runs Android and there are some other Android solutions as well. These solutions normally allow Google Play apps which makes them really versatile.

Yeah I was looking at Android TV (similar to Plair) Chromecast isn't that great because it doesn't allow DLNA and didn't realize till after I posted that it was HDMI which is nice too

I'm definitely thinking about an Android TV appliance; since it works with the play market very well there's a lot of good apps I could use on it.
