1st track of album always plays in Genres view [#12421]

Post by dmcritchie »

Hi,

I am using MMA Pro v1.1.0.0341 on a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.4.2 (Verizon).

I have found that lately I am unable to select any track from a album's track list other than the first track of an album. If I press any other track number, the first track is always the one that plays. If I then forward through the tracks using the ">>" button, it will forward and play other tracks, but MMA frequently crashes after several forwardings. (It appears to send debug info to you automatically in this event.) If I press the phone's back button to get back to the track list and try again, it still insists on playing the first track.

I did find one sequence that works: press on any track; the first track starts to play; press on the menu icon in the lower left-hand corner of the MMA window to see the track list; press any track and the correct track will begin to play.

This seems to happen for all multi-track albums on my phone and my wife's identical phone.

Re: Can't select anything other than the 1st track of album

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the report. We're unable to replicate this, but there was a similar report in Google Play of this.

Can you please send me a debug log ID generated immediately after attempting to play an album track other than the first track? i.e. attempt to play the track then go to About MediaMonkey > Send Logs, and post the resultant log ID in this thread.

Thanks.

Dang! I have currently reverted back to 1.0.7 because of this problem and my other report re my external SD card disappearing.

I'll upgrade again to 1.1.0.0341 and send you the debug logs.

Dennis

[Edit] I sent you two debug logs:
1) Log ID: UML2176NLK
Description: Selected Mirage track (number 9) and it played 1st track (Run Away with Me). On Omar Akram's Secret Journey album. Paused while playing to send log.

2) Log ID: XS66BNI71V
Description: Selected track 5 (How to be Invisible) but played track 1 (King of the Mountain). On Kate Bush's Aerial Disc 1 album. Paused while playing to send log.

Just thought I'd mention that this problem does persist with v1.1.0.0343 (even though I realize that's not one of the fixes reported).

Let me know if you need anything more than the two debug logs provided in my last reply.

This is most likely related to the SD card issue described at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 21&t=78469 (and tracked at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=12206 ). We're working on it.

Hi Rusty,

Just FYI, my missing-external-SD-card problem (that you suggested may be related to this problem) was fixed this morning with the upgrade to 346, though the problem reported in this ticket remains. bhiefer stated that he thought the external SD card problem would be fixed in 347, so maybe this will be fixed at that time as well. But I thought I should mention that the 2 problems are currently decoupled.

In case it should be of help, I have sent you another log file (while running 346) of MMA playing track 1 when I select track 2:

Log ID: 2T2DP9MXX6
Description: Another log of mma playing 1st track tho I selected the 2nd track.

Hi Dennis,

Please let us know whether this issue is resolved by the fixes re. SD handling in build 352. Thanks.

Hi Rusty,

Now running build 352, and problem persists. I have sent you a debug log taken at the point where I selected a later track and MMA is playing the first track:

Log ID: 3XWM21XER8
Description: Playing 1st track when I selected a later track

This is the same as the issue reported at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 21&t=78621 and tracked at
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=12421

Thanks.

Good catch! I am so used to starting from Genres (given my largish collection) that it never occurred to me to try to see if the problem reported in this ticket happened when I started from any other category. I just checked now using Albums, Artists, Album Artists, Composers, and Classical Music, and indeed I can play any track from the main album menu that way.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Rusty,

This was fixed a few days ago in the build prior to 359. I forgot to report back. Now even when starting from Genres, I can select any track I like in the main album menu, and also the Now Playing menu is in track order rather than download order.

Thanks very much for fixing this. :-)
