Re: Can't get MMA to sync ratings and counts with MMW
Rusty.
1.1.0.0352 is now installed on my SM-N900A (Note 3).
SD card is still not visible in mmw.
Ninety percent of the music files (now stored in Phone) do not show their artwork in mma.
All of the dozen plus tracks I checked behave the same as I described before (not playing, or short burst then to pause). BUT, now they play the second time I press play. After that, the tracks respond to the play button fine as long as the same tune remains on screen, or if they are a sequence in an album or a playlist. If I go back a screen to change tracks/albums/playlists the first thing I play does the burst-pause thing and I have to hit play a second time. If return to a song that previously played, it goes back to burst-pause and I have to hit play again.
I'd be happy to send a log but I only know how to do that from mmw. This Android world is new to me.

From the About screen in MMA. Generally you'll need to send logs right after the problem occurred as otherwise the log may not contain the problem event.terryo wrote:I'd be happy to send a log but I only know how to do that from mmw. This Android world is new to me.

Hi Terryo,
From your description, it sounds like a permissions problem.
Can you try the following?
1) Make sure you're on the latest MMW Beta (4.1.6.1723 as of today): viewtopic.php?f=6&t=54426&start=210#p399358 and MMA (based on your earlier comments, you seem to be already)
2) Manually delete your MMA content (files and playlists).
3) In MMA, initiate a Wi-Fi Sync (make sure not to delete any playlists from MMW if it prompts you to).
4) Check whether the files thus synced have artwork and whether they can play normally, and whether they contain your ratings. If not, please post a debug log ID to this thread (MMA Context Menu > About > Submit logs).
Thanks.

Re: Can't get MMA to sync ratings and counts with MMW
Well, took a while to steer my musical semi-trailer over your route, but it cleared up one problem. I have all my album covers.
The playback burst-pause symptom still ails my patient.
And I still can't see the SD card.
But my mma is functional enough to remove iDiot coded marketware from my life and I'm a happy guy this weekend.

Re: Can't get MMA to sync ratings and counts with MMW
terryo,
So I assume that all of your content is synced to the internal memory rather than the SD card.
Can you confirm that when you say that you can't see the SD card, you mean that:
a) the MMA Options screen doesn't have any Sync config option for the SD card?
b) the folders node doesn't show the SD card?
Assuming both of the above are true, can you please post a debug log ID immediately after you click the Folders node?
Thanks.

Ratings don't sync between MMW and MMA (Android 4.4.4)
Yesterday I downloaded MMW Gold to a Windows 7 PC and MMA Pro to a Note 4. I'm synching to an SD Card. I've managed to Sync all of my music and playlists, using Auto sync, including an auto-playlist that uses track ratings (3 stars and up for example).
In the sync options under the 'Auto-Sync (-->Library)' tab - There is a checkbox near the bottom of this tab for "Auto-sync file metadata from the device to the PC"; this box is checked. At the top of the tab there is a checkbox for "Auto-Sync" new files and playlists from the device to the PC"; this box is not checked.
Track Ratings did not sync over to the device card. At first I noticed that in MMA none of my tracks showed a rating, including those in the rating-based auto-playlist (do auto playlists not work in Android and just copy the MMW playlist track listing?). So I tried rating a track in MMA to see if it would sync back to my computer, and it doesn't work that direction either.
I checked the Music tab under the device (SAMSUNG - Card) in MMW, and none of the tracks shown have ratings - unlike their sister tracks listed in the main "Music" tab where the ratings do show.
I also noticed that the main "Music" tab has a bunch of categories beneath it such as Location, Artist, Composer, AND RATING. While the categories under the SAMSUNG - Card "Music Tab" show only Artist, Album, Genre, Composer and there is no RATING category.
Sorry if this is too much information, but I'm not sure what will help pinpoint the problem. I've gone through the options and etc to try and figure it out, but no luck. How do I get the ratings to sync in both directions?

Re: Ratings don't sync between MMW and MMA (Android 4.4.4)
Considering the above, am I correct in thinking I'll have to move all the files that MediaMonkey automatically synced to a top level "Music" folder now to a folder called "Android\data\com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey\files\"?MediaMonkey wrote:http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... teddeleted
In Android 4.4, content saved to an SD Card or to an external USB drive may not sync/edit/delete as expected, and the following situations may arise:
1) Limited access to the secondary storage (for devices running Android 4.4+)
In such cases, MediaMonkey for Android will indicate that "MediaMonkey has limited access to this storage due to Android restrictions", and will automatically sync content to an Application-specific folder on the SD Card (i.e. it will modify the sync mask to sync to /Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey/files). It's possible to sync, download, or edit media, in this folder, however:
o Content stored to that folder can be read but not written to by other applications on the device
o Content in that folder is deleted when MediaMonkey is uninstalled
Also, note that any content that is stored to secondary storage outside of this folder cannot be edited or deleted from within MediaMonkey for Android--you'll have to rely on the File Manager that came with your device to delete such content.
Oh man. Well, I'm pressing go so let's hope this works...

MMA Options and Folder screens both show the SD card. Options screen notes "Last synced: never"
Log has been sent immediately after clicking Folders node.
Noticed that mma also does the burst/pause playback glitch right after using FF to change songs.

Hi Terryo,
Sorry for the delayed response--I've been on holidays.
You'd previously indicated that "I still can't see the SD card.", but in your last post, you mention that "MMA Options and Folder screens both show the SD card.". So I'm unclear what you mean when you say that you can't see the SD card, since it appears that you do--can you clarify?
Re. the burst/pause playback glitch, does this occur regardless of whether the tracks being played are on the internal memory or the SD card?
Thanks for your patience--I realize that this is dragging on...

p.s. when you send a log, please post the log ID to the forum thread--otherwise we can't match it to the issue being described.

When I connect the Note 3 to the PC, the SD card does not show up in mmw. It appears in mma under "folders". Going to the SD card (external) settings under WiFi sync I get a warning that "MediaMonkey has limited access to this storage..." I prefer USB3 sync so I do not have the "Sync to this location" box checked.
>>>Re. the burst/pause playback glitch, does this occur regardless of whether the tracks being played are on the internal memory or the SD card?
This problem disappeared after the last ATT software update (have Android 4.4.4). The clicking between songs also disappeared after this update.
>>>Thanks for your patience--I realize that this is dragging on...
Not a problem. You guys are terrific and your product is already so far ahead of anything else in the market that it is easy to be patient.

Re: Can't get MMA to sync ratings and counts with MMW
It might be an issue that it's not clear how this should work. In MMW, each storage location is treated as a _different_device_ with its own sync profile. So if you had a Samsung GS5 with internal memory + an internal SD card, when you plug the device into MMW via USB, you should see something like the following in the Tree:When I connect the Note 3 to the PC, the SD card does not show up in mmw.
Samsung Sxxx - Internal Storage
Samsung Sxxx - External Storage
If you only see 1 'device' (e.g. the 'Samsung Sxxx - Internal Storage'), it may be because the External Storage device was disabled in MMW. In that case, in MMW, go to Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync and you should see a list of devices that MMW will display in the tree if they're connected to your PC. Chances are that 'Samsung Sxxx - External Storage' is unchecked. Check it off and click OK and next time you plug it in, it should be recognized.
Hope that helps.

You are correct. I checked that boxes (there are 2 listed) and now I see the card.
But on the next sync, the ratings on the phone were wiped out and not transferred back to mmw. Nothing was changed other than checking the boxes for the card. All my music is still in the phone memory.
Vexing. Lost a bunch of ratings for things I'd already auditioned.

If I'm understanding you correctly, given that the 'External Storage' device was unchecked, MMW had never actually synced to the SD Card, which would explain why:
a) ratings were missing for tracks on the SD card
b) ratings from the library overwrote ratings of tracks that you auditioned/rated on the device
For more info on this, see:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... is-missing
Once you configure the MMA SD Card to Sync with MMW (which you've done), these problems should go away.
Is that somewhat clear?

I guess I didn't explain this carefully enough.
1. I checked the box for the SD card to enable it. I left the memory blank. I did nothing with it.
2. I was auditioning music and adding stars to the existing music files in the phone memory.
3. I did a wired sync and the ratings in the phone memory files were wiped clean.
4. I unchecked the box for the SD card
5. I entered a few test ratings.
6. I did a wired sync and the new ratings transferred properly.
7. I repeated steps 1-3 to verify that enabling the SD card causes a sync to wipe new ratings in the phone memory. It did.
8. I unchecked the SD card and am not using it for mma.
Sorry to take so long to reply. Start of a new semester and I've been swamped keeping my students busy.

1. According your previous posts, I assume that you rate your tracks in MMA.
2. When you do the sync, are any new tracks copied from MMA to MMW ? Or only ratings should be sent from MMA to MMW ?
3. What kind of USB connection do you use? I assume that MTP. Or are you using Universal Mass Storage ?
4. Could you please generate a log right after the sync? Please follow the instructions:
a) Set some rating to a track
b) Do the sync with checked SD card
c) check whether the ratings are wiped
d) send the log from About dialog->Send logs and post log ID here
- it would be great to do it with limited count of tracks on your device, i.e. max 100.
Thanks!
