Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11298]
My Note 2 (android 4.1.2) is syncing the way it should, and everything shows up in MMA, but for some reason as soon as I reboot my phone, the playlists show up as empty in MMA. They are all still there, but they say "empty" and there is nothing there when I open them. Funny thing is, the playlist files are still there, and Poweramp can see them and play them just fine - only MMA shows them as empty. I changed my music folder then changed it back to force a re-scan in MMA, but the playlists still show up empty.
When I re-sync with MMW, they playlists get copied again and work fine again - until reboot.
I know I've seen this problem mentioned before but never did find a solution. Thanks for any help.

same problem here on Galaxy S3 GT9300
funny thing is that it has been happenning since i moved from the stock S3 ROM to the cyanogen 10.1
Before :
installed players : MMA last version / PlayerPro on S3 Stock 4.1.2.
After :
installed players : MMA last version / PlayerPro / Appollo on CM 10.1.3 Android 4.2.2

Hi Aralvor,
Can you confirm what version of MediaMonkey for Android you're using when you experience this bug on CM10.1?
Thanks.

Re: Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11256]
1.0.4.0168
but i've got news
i went back to stock ROM (4.1.2) because the battery on CM was quite disappointing, and also because of this bug (and some other stuff that you probably don't care about)
And ... i've got the same bug happeninng ! needless to say i removed MMA, deleted music directories, playlist directories, cleared data, cleared cache, etc...
on Windows, its MMW 4.1.0.1656

Allright, so since i came back to the 4.1.2 stock, the bug is happenning but i cant reproduce it, i just tried 3 times, rebooting and syncing a playlist, and even after the reboot the playlist is still there and working.
So no clues, it must be another program, started at another time that conflicts with it, but i dont know which one.. i still have playerpro and the stock MP3 player installed, but so i had before i switched to CM (when it was working fine) and i never had any problem with it.

Re: Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11256]
I have a Galaxy S3, Verizon Stock 4.1.2. MM 1.0.4.0168.
I was flying today and had to turn off my phone to fly. I have restarted it a couple of times the last few days, but I did one thing different, I put my phone into Airplane Mode and turned it off. Turned it on and suddenly all of my Playlists were empty. I thought that it was my extra playlists (another bug I have noticed) that were showing as empty, but the playlists were still on the device.
I went the extra step to connect my phone to my computer and pull off the M3u files. My files all now show the same thing, null. I added a new playlist and sure enough the m3u shows folder and file locations as it should.
This is how all my m3u files that were wifi synced now show if you open the file in notepad.
Some files just repeat Null over and over. One on each line.

same for me by the way, it shows null in M3U files after playlists are empty.
I rarely put my phone in airplane mode though, so i don't think thats related but who knows..

Re: Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11256]
I just reproduced the bug so it still exists for me.
i've been using my phone (still S3 / android 4.1.2 / MMA 1.0.4.0168) without rebooting. I rated songs, synced it several times over the last 2 days, and i decided to reboot it just now, and all the playlists were empty again after the reboot. I also notice that there is the circle spinning around when i start mediamonkey and that the playlists are empty, and it doesnt do that when i reboot it and the playlists are fine. I guess Mediamonkey must be scanning the device because it reseted everything (see below..)
Also, what i notice is that the rating of the song is gone, like if the database of media monkey had been reseted. So its not only a playlist thing, its also the information about tracks that is not directly contained in the MP3 (because i guess the ratings of mediamonkey are not contained in it) that are gone
What is strange is that its so hard to reproduce. So its definitely not only the reboot, its something else AND the reboot..
PS : i dont know where the playlists are located but right now im synced and all is working well, and the playlists on my external SD (which is where my music is) all contain "null", so it might not actually mean anything..

I just saw this too, reboots have happened, but not certain this is the cause.
I changed a 32gb for a 64gb out of another Android device. Then did a USB sync to the external card (internal had done a wifi sync). After several USB syncs and reboots the Playlists on internal memory are empty.

Agreed, I've tested it by keeping the device turned on without reboots and it still emptied the playlists after a few days. So a reboot might cause it but it is certainly not the reason it's happening...
Please please do something about this :/

Re: Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11298]
Hi all - sorry I've been absent from my own thread but glad it's gotten some attention.
First, my MMA is up to date and updated automatically from Play store.
Just to share my findings in the last few weeks (nothing too helpful but still...)
A reboot causes it for me every time, and it is the only thing that has caused it for me. Then again, I mess with my phone a good amount so I reboot somewhat more frequently than most. Usually don't make it 3 days without a reboot. After reboot, usually (but not always) PowerAmp can still read the playlists but MMA shows empty.
My play counts and ratings have NOT been syncing back to windows despite the box being checked, and about 80% of the time, it syncs all 1000+ tracks to my phone, even if 99% are already there.
I tried a full wipe of my device (everything including internal and external SD cards), and even installed a few different Roms (stock, JellyBeans build 22 (a customized version of the note stock system), Cyanomod whatever it is called) and same deal.
Originally I had this same problem, then I had all of this working great for about 3 or 4 months over the summer and then 1 day it went back to this empty playlist behavior.
Not being anything near an expert on MM, my guess is that the database - or whatever communicateds between MMA and MMW what is and should be on the device - is getting edited or corrupted somehow. Seems like something to do with Samsung phones, too... touchwiz perhaps?

Re: Empty Playlists after reboot (Galaxy Note 2) [#11298]
Aralvor, ScottieB, can you tell me:
a) have you observed the problem with build 175?
b) can you replicate the problem on demand? If yes
- Can you replicate it by only running MMA? (i.e. without running any other music app--If using another music app is part of the steps to replicate the issue, then it may be that the other music app is overwriting the playlist).
- Can you replicate it for a Playlist that you create on the device? Or does it only occur for playlists that have been synced to the device? If only playlists that have been synced, does it matter whether it's via USB or Wifi?
- Are you any closer to providing a set of steps that will consistently replicate this?
Thanks for your help and patience.
