Wifi sync "Waiting for the remote server..." [#11374]

Just updated to latest MMA(168)/MMW(1662) and attempted a WiFi sync to update my metadata. The sync starts as it should with the wait screen while it initializes the connection. My screen is set to turn off after 30 or so seconds. After a minute or two, I turn the screen back on and see that it has deleted some tracks and is analyzing something and that there is a new progress bar (hatched rather than solid). But, that is all grayed out and in front is a "Waiting for the remote server..." dialog. I assume this is because the screen turned off and it needs some kind of information from the server to be happy. This never goes away within the time that my screen stays lit.

After the sync is complete, I turn the screen on again and see in the background (grayed out) that the sync is done (updated xxx tracks etc) but the wait dialog is there still/again. After tapping the screen to keep it awake a few times, it finally disappears and I can exit out of that screen. Kinda annoying looking if nothing else.

I haven't noticed this when I let my screen timeout. Does a sync work properly if you keep the screen on?

With sleep disabled, everything works correctly.
With sleep enabled (15s), the sync completes, but the "wait" dialog is displayed as described earlier.
With sleep disabled, if the screen is turned off manually the sync works correctly.

Perhaps this indicates that something is turned off during auto sleep that is not with manual screen off. Either way, this is repeatable.

Testing with an S3 running 4.1 and I'm unable to replicate this as well.

However, I observed something that might be related on an Xperia running 4.0.x:
