Re-Scan Not Working It Seems [#11507]

Post by mpanwar »

Please look into why no new files or folders show up in Genre window after rescan.

The program does the initial scan. However, if you change mp3 tags (say add image) or add new folders or new files to same folder and re-scan they do not show up even though the re-scan circle is spins and appears to be scanning.

Issue:

I had a folder with the wrong artwork (called Cover in the folder and also applied to each file using mp3 tag)
This folder appears correctly in Poweramp, desktop version of MM, and any other player, i.e., they scan the update database fine.

However, this folder, changed after initial MM/Android scan shows up only with original art (wrong art).
On deleting and replacing folder it still shows up with older art,
Ergo -- scan not working

Adding new folder in a sub folder and re-scanning, the new folder and files do not show up in MM/Android
Ergo -- scan not working

I deleted and re-installed MM/Android for all of the above .. same issue.

I believe the re-scan is not working correctly.

Uninstalled for now.

I can confirm that the latest version in the play store (as of this post date) does not detect any changes to the files on the device.

Our testing shows that MMA _is_ correctly updating from the Android media service. The problem (corroborated by mpanwar at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 45#p378153 ) is that for some reason, the changes aren't being recognized by the Android Media Scanner.

Redmaw, can you confirm that this is the case for you as well (i.e. that the default Android Media Player also doesn't show the changes)?

note: in the future, we expect to implement an MMA scanner (independent of Android's).
