Connection Failed [#12384]

OK, I can no longer do a wireless sync - new version was installed today, I have restarted my phone and my pc with no luck. I just get the connecting message and then connection failed.

My phone is a Galaxy S4 and I'm running 4.1.5.1719 MMW and 1.1.0.0339

I finally got it to connect after much stopping and starting of MMW and MMA. Hopefully, this will be alright from now.

This happens to me every sync. The only thing that works for me is to start MMW, wait for it to fully load, close it down, start the sync via MMA and right after that start MMW. MMA should say it's connected and start syncing. Works for me everytime. And thanks for posting this, I was just assuming it was something with my computer.

I always get this symptom if the computer goes to sleep while MMW is open; in this case, I restart. If I see Failed Connection but the computer hasn't gone to sleep, retrying sync always works for me.

Hi,

Can all three of you share a bit more information? Can you:
a) confirm whether MMW is running Media Sharing as a service?
b) confirm whether this started occurring at a particular point in time? and is it always occurring now? Does it occur with both MMA release and MMA Beta builds?
c) send an mmw debug log (see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69 ) ?

Hi Rusty,

I am running MMW using media sharing not a service.
I seem to randomly get the connection failed - I don't think I've had it all since the latest build though. The last time, it kept on happening time after time and then I left it a while, closed MMA from the phone and re-opened it and it worked. There's not a pattern as far as I can see which I know is then almost impossible for you to replicate.

Next time it happens, I will send in a debug log.

Any logs / or additional relevant details thta you can think of would be appreciated. I can't replicate (including by letting the MM Desktop go to sleep).

btw, when this happens, can I assume that if you try to access the MM Server via UPnP that the connection also fails? Also, if you attempt to access the MM Server with a _different_ device running MMA, does it also fail? (trying to understand if it's an MMA or MMW issue).

I am not running as a service, but running a desktop instance.
I tried to reproduce the failure-to-connect following PC sleep, but after a ten-minute sleep, the sync server was active and connected. I'll try again with it sleeping for several hours.
Did you want MMA logs or MMW logs, or both?

I have an MMA log -- 61Q05UBXJ7 -- but I don't know if that's helpful. I'll do this again with MMW debug logging.

Thanks--it would be most useful if both MMA and associated MMW logs could be provided.

Also, can you let me know if another MMA device also can't connect to the server?

OK, so I made another attempt at logging the failed connection. I started DebugView & MMW, executed a wi-fi sync, put the PC to sleep. A few hours later I woke it up, and attempted another sync. There was zero activity in the DebugView window between pressing Sync on the tablet and getting the Connection Failed message; but restarting MMW, sync worked immediately.

However, I accidentally closed DebugView before saving the log, so I lost it. I will try again.

Also, can you let me know if another MMA device also can't connect to the server?

I only have the one Android device.

OK, here's a matched pair of logs.
LostServer.zip has two log files, one large one from startup until just before being put to sleep some time later, and the smaller one from wakeup until the sync attempt completed. While sync attempt was ongoing, there was no activity in DebugView except for the regular DriveUpdate messages.

MMA log VL3C961KNU sent just after the Connection Failed message.

I installed the latest MMA and I am back to connection failed again. I have tried unloading MMA and disconnecting and reconnecting wifi with no luck.

Using v 1.1.0.0343 and MMW 4.1.5.1719

I have just started getting 'Sync incomplete .. Connection Failed!' messages from selecting Sync Now. Will create a mmw log as soon as some other process complete. MMA 343 Samsung G5
