External SD card no longer seen w/ v1.1.0.0341 [#12206]

Hi,

I am using MMA Pro v1.1.0.0341 on a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.4.2 (Verizon).

I have been using MMA for a long time, and only with the last build (or possibly the last few builds) did I see that my external SD card had disappeared from MMA's Options menu. I noticed it when I tried to sync and there was nowhere to sync to (I only use the external SD card for music). I can see the external SD card and its music folder using a file explorer app, and can actually play almost all of the music with MMA. All of my music is SD card-resident. My other apps that use the SD card work fine.

My wife has the same smartphone, same model SD card, and same version of MMA, and her external SD card continued to be seen by MMA yesterday, but disappeared this morning after rebooting. So this does not appear to be due to a hardware problem on my phone.

I have tried restarting MMA, rebooting my phone, and clearing cache, and none of those actions helped. But clearing the data in Application Manager worked. I was then able to sync to my external SD card again, and all was well.

Hopefully this was a one-time occurrence, but if it happens again, I'll post back here.

Happened again on my phone.

Also, when the external SD card disappeared from my wife's phone yesterday, clearing the data did not fix things (as it had on mine per my earlier report): I had to uninstall and reinstall the app in her case. Then a sync (that downloaded *all* the music again) seems to have fixed things for now. But since my external SD card disappeared again, perhaps hers will too.

{Edit} I now see that v1.1.0.0341 has been removed from Google Play, and the version that gets downloaded is v1.0.7.0311. Maybe this is in response to the problem above and in ticket "Can't select anything other than the 1st track of album".

Hi,

Note that MMA 1.0.7 is the current release of MediaMonkey for Android, and MMA Beta 1.1.0.341 is the latest _beta_ of MediaMonkey for Android Beta. Both are active in the store concurrently.

The next beta build will have some fixes re. external SD card handling--hopefully it'll resolve the problems you're experiencing.

Thanks. I didn't realize that 1.0.7 was the production version.

I'll eagerly await a 1.1.0 update since I'm having several problems with 1.1.0.0341 that are making it pretty unusable. I'll let you know either way regarding this problem once the update is out.

I've been using v1.1.0.0343 since it came out, and for several days, my external SD card remained visible to MMA. But today it was gone again. I sent a you a debug log when I noticed this:

Description: just discovered that latest version still has problem with disappearing external SD card. No longer present today after power on.

It's a long shot, but perhaps this could be related to one of my other recent tickets where I report not being able to select other than the first track of an album: last night I played a track for the first time since the upgrade, and this morning I noticed that my external SD card was no longer being detected by MMA. Probably a coincidence, but I thought I'd mention it.

Thank you for your logs. I have found the cause. Storage disappears on unmounting storage but it doesn't always reappear when it is mounted again. It will be fixed in next build (347). Please let us know in case of any issues.

That's great. Actually FWIW, MMA updated to 346 this morning, and my external SD drive reappeared. So thanks for that! Wifi sync works again.

One anomaly is that the path to the MMA music folder on my external SD card nests much deeper than it is supposed to, though everything works. The current path on my SD card is:

Thank you for your log. It was slightly different:

It is caused by migration between beta and release versions. It will be fixed in next build.

Aha! Yes, I had reverted to 1.0.7 at one point when I couldn't get 1.1.0 to behave. Tehn I wnet back to 1.1.0 again when you asked me for debug logs. So it all makes sense.

However, the extended path to my external SD card music folder that I described earlier is still present. I don't know if correcting this is part of bhiefer's fix, or whether his fix is just to prevent from that happening in the future. If it's the latter, then is there a way to correct my path? I realize that it does not seem to be doing any harm, but I'd prefer having the correct path.

It should correct the path but existing files will remain where they are. Correction of masks is made during wifi sync.

You can check the masks in MMW ->Tools->Options...->Portable device sync->Find your device->Configure->Options tab->File locations
