I have a Nexus 7 2012 with a Lollipop custom ROM (kernel supports OTG) and StickMount. The MMA library/database is being blown away if the device is started without the external OTG drive attached or if I remove the drive with the N7 turned on. I'm past all the mounting & path issues and I know to uninstall/reinstall if I make changes to the mount point. I'm using the latest MMA Beta and NOT syncing to MMW. I'm 100% USB OTG storage. It takes a full day to index all my files (40k flac), so this is a real pain.
What works: Attach USB OTG before boot, wait for OS to tell me it's mounted, then open MMA. Once the scan is done, it's good. I have to turn off the device before I remote the USB OTG cable. This is a real pain and makes my N7 useless unless the drive is attached and powered (I have all the right cables).
I've read posts that relate to OTG or the database clearing on reboot for earlier versions of MMA, but this specific use case didn't pop up when I searched for OTG.
MMA and USB OTG wipes out database if storage disconnects

Re: MMA and USB OTG wipes out database if storage disconnect
Thanks for the report. I expect that this occurs because MMA 'thinks' that the content has been deleted if it's removed while the device is running. We'll look into this to see if anything can be done.
Edit: I see that the USB OTG issue was already resolved via the ticket that you opened.
