Uninstal MMA / Install MMA beta --> library deleted [#12891!

Post by frs1966 »

I just installed beta 1.1.3.0482, but I had to delete 1.1.2.0419 before.
MM PRO 1.1.0008 still remain.

Now my complete media library is deleted from SD card!!! >100 GB!!!
The sync takes more than a whole day!
I am really pissed off.

So I start sync now. Thank you.

Are you saying the actual music files were removed?

Yes. Music, Audiobook, Podcasts, etc. Everything from the SD-Card is deleted.
New sync MMW (latest beta)->MMA (latest beta) is running. Takes at least 10 hours.
What went wrong?

Don't know. I only know of Sync or user manually deleting files as possible ways to have files removed. Sync prompts to do this.

With versions of Android between 3 and 5.0 using versions of MMA prior to 1.1.3, when syncing to an SD card, content is always saved to a directory that is accessible _only_ to MediaMonkey (because of OS limitations), and uninstalling the app removed app-specific data such as the synced music.

I'm sorry for the hassle, and will see if we can add a warning to prevent this from occurring in the future.

Upon further investigation, there's no means of modifying the uninstall process to warn of the consequential deletion of app-specific data as it's entirely controlled by Android. MMA does warn of this in the sync configuration dialog (when you first configure synchronization) and I'm not sure that there's more that we can do :-(
