[FIXED] MMA crashes played on bluetooth #13219

Post by cyd »

Hi,

When I start to play the music without bluetooth connected, then mma plays the music without issues.
When I connect the phone via bluetooth and make phone calls then everything is fine, also.

BUT if the phone is connected via bluetooth and I start to play the music then MMA crashes.
This happens also if mma is playing without bluetooth and I connect to bluetooth.

LOG Id: QLZW9SCF56
Phone: Samsung S3
MMA 1.2.0.0587

I've been seeing this a lot as well.

I twice saw, with build 588 (? the one prior to 589), "Debug logs sent" and "Mediamonkey has stopped" errors shortly after connecting to the car's head unit and turning the head unit on. In each case, after MMA recovered, it started playing the expected song (the first track of an album started with Play Now), and then the playback stops at the end of the first track. In which case, I'm driving and so I have to switch to a CD, if there is one.

I tried to send a log after one of these instances, but because the settings file had been wiped out, the default was not to save the log ID. I'll try again when I see this next.

To confirm that it's not a device problem I downgraded to 1.1.3.0554. Bluetooth is working without any issues.

Upgraded to beta again. In my test I could hear 1-2 seconds music and then mma broke down. I had the feeling that it just broke down when mma tried to send the song information (e.g. title, album) to the car device. Has something changed there?

For now I stay with version 1.1.3.0554. Could you update me when the issue is fixed? Then I will retest the issue.

Hi Cyd,

I tried (on an S3 running Android 4.4.2 stock) to replicate by initiating a bluetooth connection and either:
1) starting playback via bluetooth
2) starting playback via MMA
and couldn't replicate. Hopefully the debug log will tell us something.

Hi Rusty,

I have 4.3 installed (I9330XXUGNA8).
If you need more debug logs, just let me know.

Kind regards,
Cyd

[UPDATE] Yes I can confirm metadata is not transferred to the car radio. :(

Hi Martin,

Thanks for fixing! The crash of MMA is resolved with 590.

BUT the meta-data of the song is not transferred to the car radio any more in my first tests.
With version 1.1.3 this worked without issues. I will retest tomorrow and will let you know if the issue is still there.

Kind regards,
Cyd

Ok, I reopened http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=13219
I have updated bluetooth metadata(album artists was missing) to next build, maybe it helps to your issue. If not then please try to go Developer options via Options>About MediaMonkey and tap to MediaMonkey icon. In this options please check Metachanged intent and try play several tracks whether issue still occurs. Thanks.

Is anyone still experiencing problems with metadata display over bluetooth with the latest betas?

Thanks.

I have found that new option doesn't work in build 595. Please wait for build 1.2.0.0596. I am sorry. Martin

Hi Martin,

Sorry for the delay but I got a new car. I just tested if the issue still occurs with 595.
--> I'm sorry, the metadata is still not transferred to the car radio. :(
I didn't tried the option in the menu as you told me that it's not working.

As this is another car I rechecked version 1.1.3 and this version worked without issues. All metadata was transferred correctly.

I'm looking forward for 596 to recheck. :)

Checked with 596.
1.) With "normal" mode no metadata was transferred.
2.) With option "Metachanged intent" the information was transferred, but the song title has two characters in front which don't belong to the song (e.g. instead of Artist "Ten Sharp" and Title "You" it transfers Artist "Ten Sharp" and Title "D You".
The two characters are always a capital letter which changes with each song and a space.

I've tested with an Android 6 tablet if metadata is transferred correctly to the radio. Just to ensure that it's not an issue of the car radio. And I can confirm that the radio and Android 6 is working without issue. So it's not a failure of the car radio. It's really an issue with the Android 4.3 version.

Note: Cyd confirmed that this issue was resolved in build 599, but reported a new issue. I've consequently split the thread and moved posts related to the new bug to:
