Automatic Genre playlists [#6700]

Any ideas about how to improve MediaMonkey for Windows 4? Let us know!

Moderator: Gurus

I'd like an option in the Sync Profile to create playlists for each Genre synced

You may select 1 option

Automatic Genre playlists [#6700]

Post by timelezz »

I'm in need for Genre-playlist!

I notice that every Android music player does NOT support for multiple-genres in an IDv3 tag. So 'Electronic; Trance; Vocal Trance' is seen as one genre, and not divided down into 3 categories. (*) I notice that you can choose MM to generate playlists based on ARTIST or ALBUM. If MM could extend this to generate playlists per GENRE, it would be a saver!

* I have asked on DroidForums.net for an app with such support, but no one seems to know one. Some people give a work around that involve an external playlist builder. But this is a time consuming work-around and you need to pay for application. If someone knows an App with multi-genre support, I am all ears. :)

If you have MM Gold, you could create autoplaylists for each genre.

Thank you for the suggestion. I do have Gold, but it ain't gonna help me. (I should then do this work-around for every current playlist I sync now). Perhaps I should place a suggestion for new versions?

Sure, you could ask for it in the wishlist. I guess the workaround is simply too much of a burden because you have too many genres and it would take too much time?

I suppose you could also consider this addon: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... list+child

It will let you automatically export playlists every X minutes for any node and it's children (ie genre).

Nohitter inspired me, and now I made playlists that filters on the content of other playlists. (if you understand me). The only downside is now that synchronizing takes more time. MM states: 'Synchronizing Removable Disk (H.): (Preparing list of tracks)' for full minute! Probably because I made it complicated for MM to comprehend what I'm doing. ;)

* Work-arounds have been discussed here, but those are not very comfortable. Rather quite time consuming.

huh, Export M3U/Playlists for Child Nodes is a breeze to use.

I think the request makes sense though.
